All's Quiet on the Recruiting Front

After the end of the July evaluation period, it remains earily quiet on the basketball recruiting front. No new offers reported via "Verbal Commits," and no ISU finds via SLC Bengal. I did see that Stefan Gonzalez picked up a UC Davis offer recently. Anybody have any tidbits to share?

I knew I could count on you, SLC. ISU has also apparently offered Jackson Watson, a 6-3 guard who is going to be a FRESHMAN, from Bellevue, Wash, per "verbal commits."

I've seen quite a few reports of events (camps, AAU games...) in which ISU coaches have attended and scouted. The same goes with players who ISU has reportedly shown interest in but have not offered as of yet (i.e. Montez White, PG, Surprise Shadow Ridge, AZ...).

I knew they were out there working, just haven't heard of any offers up until now. Thanks again, SLC.

A blurb on Gollon. He apparently missed much of last season with a hip injury: http://www.wissports.net/roster_players/1486602" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Add Tommy McCarthy, a 6 foot PG from Carlsbad, Ca., to ISU's offer list, per "verbal commits."

Bessick is a 6-9 f who averaged 6 points and 4.5 rebounds a game as a freshman at James Madison last year before transferring.

According to "verbal commits," Gonzalez has offers from Montana, Eastern Washington, Cal Davis, Seattle and Portland State, in addition to ISU.

"Verbal commits" reporting that Idaho has joined the Gonzalez derby, and Highland junior-to-be Connor Harding has been offered by Arizona State.

Is there anyone else out there that can really help us? I may not understand the recruiting process. Are we talking about this year or the next? Last time I remember recruits this late, was Joe O' Brien's last year. Not a happy thought. I'm lost in all this.

We're done for this upcoming season, Bill (although I'm hearing rumors one of the incoming kids is having adjustment issues -- stay tuned). The kids you are reading about now on this thread are being recruited for 2015. Getting a September visit is good, because it indicates the player MAY sign in the early recruiting period -- in November. The more you sign in November, generally, the better off you are because you're theoretically getting your "first choice" players, but ISU typically does the bulk of its signing in the spring period.

Gonzelaz visited Montana last weekend: "Loved everything about it."

Also plans to visit Oregon State and St. Mary's. If he's not a Bengal, hope he winds up at one of those two places. Would hate to lose him to another Big Sky program -- especially Montana.

Morgan appears to be a Jeff Solarin-type -- 6-3 forward who averaged 15 ppg and 6 rpg. Boucher is a 6-10 center who averaged 12 ppg and 6 rpg. Both played at different JCs last year.
