I put this out for sacstatesman. This may be the reason they can never win in Ogden. Their players go crazy and just want to kill themselves when the go above 2000 ft in elevation. :yikes:

That may explain the absolute insane paranoia of this board over one lousy loss to USU.

Sac, I understand that you shouldn't care or know how important in-state match-ups are to the long-time fans, how important they used to be to players and coaches, or the difference it can make in the recruiting battle for Weber State. Maybe the excitement on this board has less to do with "one lousy loss to USU" and more to do with the following:
1) A 33 point meltdown in about 12 minutes of basketball and the clueless faces of players and coaches alike.
2) It was thought this might be a year ripe for the pickin' to get rare win in Logan.
3) A 7-26 record vs in-state the past 9 years of Rahe. (not counting SUU since they're a weak part of a weak BSC)
4) An increase in the @$$ kickings at the hands of in-state at the same time Weber's program getting stronger? and stronger?
5) Rahe admitting his system is so above everyone elses that only his players can't be expected to be ready to compete until January.

That doesn't sit well with this long-time fan. I have much more pride in my team than to write off OOC and in-state as unimportant, especially when I've followed the program through years of high competitiveness against in-state. Someone posted that Neil Maccarthy would have busted a chair over a loss like that and that it never would have happened with a Ron Abegglen team and I tend to agree. Rahe says, "games like these prepare us for conference play." Prepare them for what? How to lose (twice - MSU & UM) in the tournament on their home floor after being up 20? For me, this about much more than "one lousy loss to USU"!

Excellent post Weathercat! I'm still trying to get over #5!

I understand your feelings but I didn't invite me to comment, oldrunner had to bait me into it. I have sat on my hands and not commented on the start to your season if you hadn't noticed until olds had to stir the pot. Since we don't have any in state rivalry games this year (due to UC Davis backing out) I was not going to comment on any of your OCC games of meaning. I haven't said anything about you guys over estimating the defensive prowess of your team based on an inter-squad game. I have been called crazy and insane on this board for only stating what an unbiased observer can easily see. I still love enthusiastic fans and wished we had as loyal and devoted fans as you guys. If olds wants to bait me I will bite back. I think we all know that olds puts his foot in his mouth plenty enough times for anyone to bite him in the azz. After all that, good luck in the rest of your OCC games and hope we beat your butts when we meet. Respectfully Sacstateman

I have noticed and your entire post is understood. Truth be told, I'd rather not fire out so many negative posts regarding the basketball team but it doesn't take much to "bait" me with the passion I've had for so long with it. OOC/in-state futility and stupid administrative decisions I just can't show much restraint with. Good luck with that win, you're gonna need it. Actually, I am pulling for Sac to help the BSC look more respectable. The conference is sure off to a stellar start!

I guess people just don't get my sarcastic sense of humor. I'm OK with getting kicked in the @$$ over it.

I just ran across that article, and in spite of its dark subject, related it back to an earlier conversation in a sarcastic sort of way. I think that sac was doing the same thing in relating it back to our feelings about that disgusting set of events up north. I can laugh at myself, and I think it is a healthy thing to do.

Yes. I've been able to get the responses that I was looking for, and I love it.
