OGDEN - It's time for another Weber State Men's Basketball Alumni Classic. Wildcat fans can see some of the greatest players to ever suit up at Weber State at the Alumni Classic which will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Dee Events Center. The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a shooting stars and a 3-point contest, followed by the alumni game.
WSU hosted an alumni game in 2015 and this year's game will again have the support of Weber State All-American and NBA All-Star Damian Lillard, who will be the featured participant of the evening. Lillard will compete in the shooting stars contest and the 3-point contest and will also serve as one of the coaches for the alumni game. More details of the classic will be announced soon.
Among the former Wildcat greats that are scheduled to compete in the game this year are former Big Sky MVP's Harold Arceneaux, Davion Berry, Jermaine Boyette, Jimmy DeGraffenried and David Patten. Several other players including Kyle Bullinger, Ryan Cuff, Pat Danley, Nick Hansen, Darin Mahoney, Frank Otis, Nic Sparrow and Chris Woods are also set to play, among others. Former Weber State head coaches Ron Abegglen and Phil Johnson and current head coach Randy Rahe will join Lillard and others in coaching the teams in the game. The full rosters will be announced later.
General admission tickets will be $5 for the event. Tickets are on sale now at the Weber State Ticket Office at the Dee Events Center or by visiting WeberStateTickets.com. WSU students will get in free with a valid student ID.

The classic was good. Lillard's jersey retirement was great and seeing the old timers was great. The basketball itself was a bit hard to watch. Jimmy Watts was there. He is my age, so it was good to see him alive. :lol: Richard Smith walked into the house. He didn't look good at all. That was sad to see. :|

I was there. It was a lot of fun. My youngest son who watched Lillard as a young teenager teared up a couple of times during the ceremony. It was typical Dame giving credit to others, acknowledging his teammates by name, and it really made me proud for him as a player and as an individual -- and for Weber State as a educational community. Dame represents something that I've sent all my children to that school to discover. I've lived in this state most of my life and have experiences with all the schools in the state during those years. I believe that Weber State is a special place.
I ran into Brody Van Brocklin at the gym we both go to on Monday. He said he just can't get over what a normal guy Lillard is and how much fun he had both playing and being with some of the players that were his heroes when he was young.

I am so happy that I live by the Dee Event Center so that I can attend these amazing events! SO cool seeing Dame have his number retired and also, watching childhood heros, legends, and friends play at the Dee again (was this the first time Watts ever played in the Dee?). Sir.catcat you missed out...Jamaal Jenkins was there. He would have loved to have had you taking random pictures of him. He even shot a half-court shot with 3 second left on the clock for the win. :lol:

Dame is 100% class and you'd be hard-pressed to find as good a person in any professional sport, let alone at all. I was sorely disappointed in this year's attendance, I'd estimate it at about 3K. You've got a 2-time NBA All-Star, considered one of the elite PGs in the league who, of course played at WSU, and who reps O-Town and WSU continually, signing autographs and organizing a great event like this and an overwhelming majority of the Northern Wasatch Front could care less. Luckily, Lillard doesn't seem to mind. I wish the majority of the State took interest and understood what an absolute gem this guy is.
