Analyzing the WAC

Looks like the WAC may be trying to not only go after Montana, but Denver and Seattle.

"The WAC is expected to move on expansion sooner than later, even with the decision by Mountain West-bound Fresno State and Nevada to stay put for another season in exchange for a lesser exit fee.

For the WAC to make a significant step, the league must convince Montana to join for 2012-13. The WAC can land Denver and/or Seattle and has Texas-San Antonio and Texas State lined up and ready to accept a bid. "

They still need to convince Montana!

They were going to levy $4m + in fees to Nevada and Fresno if they left early, so those two schools opted to stay another year. Without them, you essentially are left with a conference no better than the Big Sky anyway... especially with FCS also-rans Texas State and UTSA added.

Funny, all this talk about UTSA, and they haven't even played one down of football yet, FCS or FBS - and this is what the WAC is banking on? Pathetic. The WAC is going to be little more than a conglomiration of really bad FBS schools spread across three different time zones. No really identity. They've pretty much been punked big time by the MWC. With BSU, Fresno, and Nevada gone already, it's already a matter of time before Hawaii and USU jet too, IMO.
