Another Feather in the Cap for Jeff Tingey

Again, I say that Jeff Tingey has done more for that department facilities-wise than anyone since Dubby Holt. It's another feather in his cap...

Kudos to Jeff, Donna, and former employee Jay McMillin! They deserve a ton of credit for this!

Whether you like Tingey or not, it's hard to argue that he has in fact done more for facilities than 40 years worth of AD's did put together. And even though he didn't have a choice, he did put the pillars in place, finally, for a strong academic footing. I remember when Jim Senter was first hired, and he was asked about different things to "fix" in the athletic department. He mentioned academics, in that the university did not have a good reputation with it as it related to athletics. I think some took offense, and others did not quite understand what he meant. Looking back, I'm sure it was a prelude to the whole APR mess (attrition, low GPA's, low graduation rates). Even though it's one of those areas often overlooked, it's looked at by the parents of most 17 and 18 year olds. I think we sometimes forget how much influence a parent has in guiding his/her child to choose a specific school and its athletic department.

Now all he has to do is bring Frank back, and that part of the puzzle is solved too. ;)
 
My two grandsons played little league football on the new practice field Saturday and I have to say it was a great venue and a great experience for them and the family. The fact this field is being made available for such community events is a great way to extend the ISU "brand" to those out in the community.
