Another transfer

Judah Jordan in the transfer portal now.
Yes, this one has been coming since we signed the Spanish kid, Jawara. Judah is a highly intelligent young man and will land on his feet. I wish him great success where ever he lands.

Sounds like a stock response Olds. The saga continues. Seems like there’s a revolving door in Ogden! Going to be a fun season just getting to know the names of the players.

No doubt, after last season things need to change and the amount of Player turnover is inevitable. The only thing that stays constant is the coaching staff! It’s obvious that the School will not hold Coaches accountable for the teams results.

Wouldn’t it be cool if Rahe said that our performance didn’t meet expectations last season and I’m not going to accept one of my regularly scheduled bonuses! Ain’t going to happen!

He was recruited for one role and with the change in offense and not using bigs, it wasn’t a good fit for Tim. I think he made the right move.
Great kid and player....... This is a program in turmoil!

And now Randy has chased away another promising player and is continuing to mortgage the future of the program. At the end of the season we all knew big changes were coming and we hoped for them but he is losing the promising players and bringing in older unproven players. How is that better? I like a few of the transfers but some are not upgrades and they are short timers. Plus WSU is short on bigs again with just Kozak and Bassett (both seniors) and Kupsas. I would have rather kept either Zdor or Fuller than Kupsas, he is the least proven of the three. I was not happy with a few of the outgoing transfers (Barnes, Zdor, Nero, Spencer Johnson) but this one really pisses me off!

Everyone seems to be assuming that Fuller was run off, and you want to point fingers. However, not one of you know what the situation is surrounding his transferring. I really like the young man and hope he succeeds where ever he goes. Personally, I'm hoping that he goes off to a JC somewhere, gets a lot of PT, and returns to us next year. Maybe that is just my pipe dream, but none of you know that is not the plan. As it stood with the guys we have brought in, it would have been hard for him to get much PT. For his development, a year at a JC will do him a world of good. He may well progress faster at a JC, getting 30+ MPG, than riding the pine for us. Like I said, I just want all of our players and our team to be the best that they can be. I don't see a need to assign blame with no knowledge of the facts. :coffee:

Well, let's see Olds. Fuller got quite a bit of playing time, especially toward the end of the year. 2/3 of Fuller's team decided to or was forced to transfer in the last 3 months, most of them over 2 months ago. Randy announces the signing of his last scholarship position and the next day Fuller is transferring. If Fuller was going to transfer why would he wait so long after everyone else left? Not mention Randy's piss poor record of keeping RMs to graduation. All that leads to a very reasonable and quite likely situation where Fuller was no longer welcome here. And if it was his choice to transfer then again it's on the coach who lost a player he wanted to stay. Either way it sucks and WSU will not be a better team without him.

Spoke with someone close to Tim Fuller about the situation and basically he was told that if he returned next season he would not be on scholarship. He had no plans of leaving until he got that news. So in other words he was ran out. Fuller was arguably the best big man last season and could have developed into a real good player given time.

I agree with you that he was the best 5 man. Kozak was probably a bit better as a combo 4/5. That doesn't have much to do with this years team. I will still say that none of us, including someone close to him, were part of the conversations between the coaching staff and Tim. It is true, if we sign another player that would leave us over the grant limit if someone else did not transfer or accept a walk on spot. That tells me that we do have someone better lined up for the coming year and that it would have pushed Tim to the fourth or fifth big man on the roster, probably fourth. However, if we kept Tim on a grant, we would have to give up one of our guards. Those are tough choices for players and coaches. Add into that, the pressures the coaches are feeling to win at a higher level. I still hope that we can get him back the following year. Like I said, that may just be a pipe dream. :coffee:

You gotta be kidding me?! No, I actually believe it because RR is a selfish little moron who cares only about himself. He'll trash anyone to save his own skin. Tim was a great kid who had a heart for the program, there is no excusing RR for all the transfers--7 just this year alone. No chance in hades Tim would come back to Weber unless RR left. I haven't been in contact with Tim, but there are some things that just equal water under the bridge. Tim will be better off without RR's turd show. Seriously, this is an embarrassment to Weber State University.

You’re right Old’s! Why wouldn’t he want to come back to a failing program after being disrespected and lied to? Loyalty to the program that screwed you is huge! I feel bad for Tim and yes he played well last year. I understand and appreciate what RR is trying to achieve, but at the end of the day this is a program that’s dying on a vine. Always interesting that at Weber there’s a price to pay for a horrible season and everyone is held accountable but the coaches.. Tim will play against us and will stick it to Weber State and RR will come out after the game and say how proud he is of Tim and how much the kid is a competitor. He’ll also wish things had worked out differently at Weber for him. Same coach speak that we’ve come accustomed too the last 5 years. Get ready for the “the team is starting to gel! They need some time to get to know each other and feel comfortable in the offense. I’m proud of these guys and their effort on the floor. Although we lost by 55 tonight I love this team and how they compete every game! :blah:

So Fuller was a bright spot on defense and rebounding...and he is sent packing? Why some big players or defenders aren’t recruited is puzzling.

Hill has built a great football program off of defense. Since Beckner left the basketball program, Wildcat defenders don’t even consistently put their hands up on defense.

It will be interesting to see if a whole team of transfers can coexist and play team ball. Not everyone is going to get over 15 shots a game.

I agree with the point that coaches need to be held accountable. No changes in coaching positions that I’m aware of meaning we will see more of the Weave and Chuck offense and the low energy hands at sides and cement feet defense that hopes the rebounds come to them.

Talent is wasted in schemes like these. Best of luck to Fuller. He was a nice team player. I guess the basketball team can change names from Weber State to “Me”ber State!

I respect your optimism and your loyalty to this program Olds but you are naive to what goes on in this program.

Fuller signs with UVU. I hope Rahe knows what he’s doing :wtf:

I kind of hope he kicks our ass every time he plays against us. Pushing him out was a mistake. If David Nzekwesi turns out to be better you can all call me on it and I'll eat crow. But after 2 years of playing to Fuller's one year, Fuller was the better player.

Yeah, I'm with you there. Looks like an even trade to me. Time will tell. I'm happy for Tim to get a chance to be a three year starter for UVU. From what I can see, they really need his services. I too hope he does really well against us, if they play us. There is no contract for that right now. Although, this was going to be the year they came to our place. I hope they can get that deal done. This leaves us a little thin for big men. Our depth is a man recovering from major knee surgery and two walk-ons. Our success in the front court is largely dependent on staying injury free. I think we are loaded with guards and wings.

Absolutely frustrating. No other way to say it. Fuller is the type of guy you want on your team. He's the epitome of commitment, hard work, and leadership.

I just saw on Verbal Commits that we offered another JC wing player for this class? Does that mean we will have another player leave? Crazy year. Here is the link

I think that is for next years recruiting class and would be a November signing if we get him. I expect that next years class will include several transfers as well. Some of the JC sort and some of the drop down sort. There could also be a HS player thrown in the lot.

The only way I see another player coming in this year is if one of our European guys is not able to travel due to the pandemic.
