I've heard a rumor that both Wiggins and Bruce are Propped. Anyone know for sure?

If so, this is concerning as we've had trouble retaining academic risk kids from SoCal. Anyone remember the QB recruit and his transfer buddy from Ohio State three years or so back? Neither even finished a single quarter in Cheney.

If you go back and read on the Red Zone 'Why Deandre Johnson picked Eastern Washington' (Feb5)', it appears that linebacker Johnson will be a prop or at least a redshirt this fall. It was reported that with grades he probably would have been a PAC12 player. Eastern has done well with props that stay in school their first year and get their grades in order. If just one plays the next year we have an athlete that we probably couldn't have recruited otherwise. I have heard we have four props still in school winter quarter from the '11 class: O linemen Clay DeBord, David Delgado, and Thomas Gomez, and wide receiver Anthony King.

Thanks for the info on last year's props. A couple of those lineman will contribute right away this season. Definitely sounded like Deandre was going to be a Prop by listening to the video, which is fine. Get in school, get those grades in there, and get on the field. That's basically what it's all about. I am hoping Bruce isn't a Prop, but with our depth at WR, maybe he would have redshirted this year anyway.

Ranger: I was in error on this year's props - David Delgado is a 320 pound D lineman who is redshirting.
Julius Tevaga is a 290 pound O lineman who was a prop and is reported to be in school this quarter. We won't know about the props until next fall when they can turn out.

I hope Big Double D has some quickness to him like Renard... gonna be fun watching OL trying to deal with him. If he gets a pancake sack it should be called a motorboat.

No clue on Wiggins, but I am not so sure that Bruce is a prop. I haven't read anything or seen anything that would suggest that he is. Fair point on the props from Cali, though, and I do remember the 3 star Qb you are talking about. I think it's hit and miss with Props. We've had some success with guys like TJ and a few others, but there's been equally as many that never panned out.

Hopefully this kid works out and best of luck to him and the rest of this year's recruiting class. We got a couple of very good WR's between Bruce and Cooper Kupp.

Zach Chapman signed his letter of intent in Feb 2010 (as a TE), graduated from hs in 2010, but was a prop for the 2010 season. He was on the roster, as a defensive end for the 2011 season, but onlly played one game. (Check the stats in the archives on goeags.com). He is in school, I don't know how much eligibility he still has,

Three years...

I think Ben Gossmeyer, Deandre Johnson, and Cameron Hemmings are all props for next year. Not sure of any others. Last years props were Tevaga, Deboard, Gomez, and King. Not sure how any of those guys have been doing in the classroom though. Go Eagles!!!

three of those guys are O-lineman that we need badly so hopefully they've been putting in the work in the classrom to get on the field!!
