Does anyone know if this game is going to be televised...I'm sure Local TV wont be picking it up, so I'm hoping for some FSN AZ or something. I'm hoping for a better showing that in the game in Southern Miss. This team needs to stop depending so much on the 3pt shot. Penetration, getting the ball into the paint, crisp passing... Somebody stepping up and being a leader.

SCOUTING WEBER STATE: The Wildcats enter tonight's contest with a 6-6 record following Tuesday's 68-49 loss at Southern Miss. On the season, WSU shoots 47.3 percent (271-of-573) from the field, is outrebounded by a -0.5 rebounds per game margin, and is outscored by 3.5 points per game. Tonight's game is Weber State's fourth consecutive away from home. Three Wildcats average in double figures, led by Steve Panos' 11.5 ppg clip. He also leads the club with a 5.2 rebounds per game average.

THE SERIES: Tonight's game is the fourth meeting of the two schools with Arizona holding a 3-0 advantage in the series, which dates back to Dec. 12, 1966. Each series game has been played in Tucson, including the last, a 72-68 UA win on Dec. 4, 1969. All-time, Arizona is 3-0 in series games played in Tucson, 0-0 in Ogden, Utah, and 0-0 in neutral-site games. See page 96 in the Arizona basketball media guide for more series information.

LAST MEETING: Arizona 72, Weber State 68, Dec. 4, 1969: Tom Lee and Bill Warner took turns carrying the scoring load as Arizona outlasted Weber State. Lee scored 15 of his 18 points in the first half and Warner tallied 16 of his game-high 24 points in the second period, including the go-ahead bucket with 2:39 remaining to lift Arizona. Lee and Warner combined to hit 16-of-25 field goals and grab 20 rebounds in the contest to offset Weber's offensive balance that saw three players in double figures. Free throws proved to be the difference, as UA connected on 18-of-22, while WSU made just 8-of-22 attempts.

AGAINST THE BIG SKY CONFERENCE: All-time, Arizona is 100-32 (.758) against teams that currently make up the Big Sky Conference. The majority of those contests have come against Northern Arizona (118 meetings), including the last eight. The last time UA faced a Big Sky foe not named NAU came Dec. 5, 1995, in an 84-66 UA win over Montana in Tucson.

the game is on fsn arizona. all arizona games that arent on cbs or espn are always on fsn arizona, i think we've had every game televised for at least the last 5+ years.

so if you have directv with the sports pack you should be fine.

We are 0-3 vs UA, but we did school ASWho last time we played em!

good haha, anytime asu loses its always fun. the funny thing is that asu fans think they are amazing now at basketball after an nit appearance last year and since they actually managed to beat us twice last season (after losing 23 of 24 games against us from 1996-2007).

and the last time we played weber state was in 1969 haha

WEBER STATE /ARIZONA CONNECTION

Weber State and Arizona have a common connection in COACH BRUCE LARSON. ... Larson coached at WEBER JC in 1957-58 and 1958-59. ... His 57-58 team placed 2nd at the NJCAA National Tournament and the 58-59 squad WON IT ALL, posting a 30-3 record. ... LARSON was the head coach at ARIZONA FROM 1961-72 where he was 136-148 (.479). His best season was 17-9 in 1964-65.

WSU went D-I in 1964, was the first ever school to go straight from JC to D-I.

Also, our football coach - Ron McBride - used to be an assistant at UA back in the day...

uofapunk,

if u like making fun of ASU then u'll like this one....

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=180153

Current ASU quarterback, Jimmy Barnes, a Weber football flunky signed with ASU this past season! LOL

The guy came to Weber after Saban got hired at Alabama, either he didn't like Saban or knew he'd never play. I'd run the other way too if Saban was my coach! Yikes!!

So he came to Weber and was a joke, lead the team in TD passes...FOR THE OTHER TEAM!!!

Not sure if he even finished the season, the next thing I hear he's at ASU!

WSU loses close one with a very good team.

Box Score: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=283640012
Low TO's, we only shot 39.3% from the field but it was still better than AZ, 11-32 3's, Davis had 3 blocks, 15 pts & 5 rebs for Lillard.

McCoy 16 pts, 8 assists, only 1 TO, 3 3's.

Interesting stat: Lillard shot 10 3's.

We were outrebounded 42-35 which isn't bad considering the heighth AZ had.

Really the only not so great part about the game was the FTs, we shot 6-12, and they shot 18-27.

Weber State stayed close enough to be within four points at 69-65 with 25 seconds to play. But Jemelle Horne made two free throws with 14 seconds left to give Arizona (9-3) just enough of a cushion to get the win.

"We played our hearts out," Weber State senior Kellen McCoy said. "We just have to continue to play hard. We played good in a hostile environment against a good team. They defended probably like nobody we'll see in our conference."

"We knew we were going to shoot a lot of 3's," Rahe said. "They make you do that."

Rahe praised Lillard who is now in his third week of being Weber State's fulltime point guard.

"Every game he's getting better and better," Rahe said. "This game will help him."

I watched the game last night on the big screen and I was VERY impressed with the effort of the team. Lillard did not play like a freshman, McCoy was very tough, and D-Will had some sick dunks that should appear on ESPN top 10 plays again.
GREAT GAME CATS!!

Uofapunk... How much of a difference would Hill have made last night? I'm just curious... He is the leading scorer and rebounder on the team. Is Horn his main back-up? I thought Weber played an excellent game. The Cats played hard and kept fighting throughout. What TV station was the game on? I listened to KLO.. Brad was in rare form last night (I think he started giggling to one of his own jokes)..

Game was on FOXSPORTSNET ARIZONA on direct TV, Brad always laughs at his own jokes because he is the only person on this planet who thinks he is funny.

Figured I'd dig up the old thread from '08. This is back before AJ was just a troll on other teams' boards!

Yikes!! You'd think I would have become a better writer with the years of experience and the number of posts I've written. hahaha guess not so. I do miss catcat's thorough write up and analysis of the game. Proof that he doesn't care as much about Weber State sports as he once did. At one time he was the fourth or fifth best fan now he would be lucky to be in the top 50. His fan RPI dropped a lot by not attending a Weber game that was in his region to go shopping on one of the Piers. For shame catcat...for shame.

catcat is the greatest fan in wsu history. he has been to over 40 wsu away games though he has never appeared at uvu or suu. there is no greater fan of weber state in my entire neighborhood!

catcat has 4 ncaa tourney appearances as a fan, 1 nit, 5 big sky tourneys but his one dream unfullfilled is to see the potatoes in the post season.

How have you been to 4 NCAA Tournaments as a Weber State fan? Your first one was in 2003 where you wouldn't shut up for 14 straight hours? Also, all games near your current house does not count as road trip games. Bengalhater is a far better fan than you. He has been to both uvu and suu. Also, he has only missed a couple potato-barn games (regrettably this season) compared to you missing the last three seasons. terrible representation of Weber State.

PROUD OF THE WEBER STATE WILDCATS!! battle at the end (following great start) of the game...Arizona's defense dominated for the better part of the game...Coach Rahe can study it this summer & there's a positive outlook for the future of Wildcat basketball (Weber State version)!!!. Impressive support & good job to the pep band, cheerleaders & fans. :thumb:

Thanks coaches & team! All you fans have a pleasant summer & to some: keep drinking the purple KoolAid.

I can't even begin to express my gratitude to the team, today. They looked dead in the water until Richaud sparked a rally. Our guys didn't back down against arguably the best team in the country. We are just the fifth No. 16 seed in history to stay within single digits of a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Sure, it's not an upset, but this was a day we should definitely be proud of. I'm sad to see Tres, Jordan, Byron and Davion go, but they represented Weber State well in their final game. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

What a game. I loved the performance of the team. With 2 minutes left, it was a 9 point game. That three UA hit was huge for them. I hope the national media will look at this as a good showing, lets bet the BSC out of the 16 seed game for a while...
