Around the BSC

EWU is up on NAU, 32 -28, at NAU. Neither team looks to have as much talent as last year's teams. The difference so far is that EWU runs a more efficient offense and has a bit more beef inside. He's a bit of a sluggo, but as long as he can stay out of foul trouble, he is effective.

IMHO, EWU may well be a top 4 team in the BSC, but they are not distinguishing themselves as the top team. Too early to tell, but it may be a wide open race.

EWU ended up winning 80-64. The win would have been in the single digits if NAU could trow it in the ocean. NAU may well be a worse shooting team than PSU. They had plenty of open shots and nobody was guarding them on free throws. They just weren't hitting anything on their home floor. I see NAU struggling this year.

I just watched ISU/UNCo. UNCo won a fairly close game.

IMHO, you beat ISU by stopping the drible drive. Thier big men are sluggos and don't need to be doubled at all. Their big men are not shooters. Guard them straight up and don't let them have an open pass out to a shooter.

To beat UNCo you need to stop their big wing, #13 Hume. He is their go to shooter and can also drive to the hoop. Thier big men are not shooting threats, but they can set a good screen, defend and rebound. IMO, we will need to play everybody but Hume straight up. I would double up on him when they set a pick for him. When the game was on the line, they put the ball in his hands for ISU to foul. That tells you about all you need to know. In one respect they are a lot like ISU, in that they want to dribble drive and pick and roll.

After watching UNCo struggle with ISU on their home floor, I'm not sold on them making the top 4 by seasons end. Although, I'm sure that things will change as the season goes on. :coffee:

ISU got a good win in Greeley today....I don't know what you're talking about when you say "Thier big men are sluggos and don't need to be doubled at all. Their big men are not shooters." Brayden Parker, ISU starting center, dominated the middle both games....Yesterday = 21pts, 10rbs, 8-11fgs, 1-1 3ptfgs....Today = 26pts, 6rbs, 8-13fgs, 1-2 3ptfgs......average for the 2 games, 23.5pts, 8rbs, 16-24 = 66.6%, 2-3 = 66.6% 3pt fgs, 1.5 blocks.....Pretty good "sluggo" in my opinion....in fact, he will be BSC Player of the Week....astute observations Olds....

And the winner for BSC Player of the Week is.....Brayden Parker (alias sluggo)

Watching NAU vs UI, at UI. Both teams are struggling a bit with their shooting, both teams are turning it over regularly, both teams are playing man D and pressing from time to time. NAU is up 34 - 31 at the half. Officials seem to be letting them play for the most part. Not sure who the better team is. They look like carbon copies of each other. :coffee:

NAU got hot for a short stretch in the second half, went up by 12, but couldn't hold that lead. UI caught up and sent the game into overtime. NAU won it on clutch free throw shooting in OT.

Looks to me like you have to contain #20, Shelton, to beat NAU. To beat UI you need to limit the dribble drive by #2 and not let #21 get too many good looks from 3. :|

UNCo beat UM at UM on a last second baby hook shot by their hot wing, #13. That moves UM to 0 - 3 in league games.

EWU is still the top team, if they can actually play any games in the future.

The BSC is wide open, IMHO. :coffee:

It may honestly come down to what team avoids COVID-19 and is not eliminated come tournament time. There is an outside shot they can’t even send a team to the NCAA Tournament.
