The Big Sky goes 3-0 vs the MVFC tonight.

Montana State hammers Western Oregon 55-0. Probably a confidence building exercise for what is proving to be a poor MSU team.

Washington hammering Portland State 35-3. I am not sold on this PSU team this year. I thought they would have a lot of momentum going into 2016, but they have been overall middle of the road. They might end up like the 2015 Idaho State Bengals.

Jacksonville state beats Coastal Carolina 27-26. Both are looking like playoff teams again.

A little surprised NAU left Cookus in as long as they did. I know they wanted him to get the record, but that's risky. Would've been the end of their title hopes had he gone out.

CCU is transitioning and not playoff eligible.

Looks like our schedule just got tougher with that Poly win. I was wondering if they might be back a little. Graves has quite a bit of experience as a back up and might be their best passing QB in awhile (was 9-11 for 161 and a TD yesterday). Protheroe is a beast at fullback. And their defense just held one of the better offenses in FCS to just 336. It seems like Walsh does a nice job finding and developing defensive talent.

It's gonna be very interesting next week when the Griz visit SLO.


USD might be a little up this year judging by their win against Weber, and with Stony Brook's dismantling of a very good Richmond team yesterday, the F'ing Hawks first loss suddenly doesn't look so bad either. Plus they were a failed 2 point conversion away from beating a Bowling Green team that had 10 wins last year. Studsruud is a good young QB, Santiago is perhaps the best RB in the conference, and they can play solid D. They have an easy schedule from hear on out and I wouldn't rest on them.

i think CalPoly will move the ball and score a lot on UM. Couple that with the anemic UM offense and CalPoly wins by 17.

Hard to tell how good either NAU or Portland State are based on their limited games.

NAU will be dangerous next week. They played Arizona State closer than the score showed; they threw the ball well in that game. Their loss to Western Illinois had to be a real bummer, because they didn't play well. And New Mexico Highlands is hard to assess as that is poor team.

They haven't run the ball well until this weekend, but again, New Mexico Highlands didn't offer much resistance.

And, of course, NAU has flat had our number recently and the Skydome is a tough place to play.

Eastern *should* win this game, but we'll get smoked if we play like we did against them each of the last two years or like we did in the first half of UNI. I still think we've found something by coming with pressure and forcing teams to beat us over the top. We need our corners to match up and take away short routes; we can't let Cookus get comfortable or he is good enough to pick us apart.

I don't know if I agree. NAU isn't really like any team we've faced so far. They mix it up offensively, maybe more like NDSU than anyone else we've played so far.

I'd feel a lot better about this game if it was in Cheney. This will not be an easy game, as we could play pretty well and still lose against a team of this quality. It'll be really important for a lot of those guys listed as "questionable" last week that wound up missing the games to return this week. We need all hands on deck, as this conference game will be setting the table for the rest of the year.

They're already in an almost must win and playing at home. Dangerous team with the ability to beat our secondary deep.
