I got some emails regarding a couple of other Sky teams' games last night. I have come to the conclusion that both Sac and Eastern should have had wins over PAC-12 teams, but that they didn't because the reffing wasn't fair. In both games the PAC-12 opponent needed the refs help to preserve wins. This is the kind of shit that the NCAA needs to stop. Is our Commissioner doing anything to right this wrong? Is there anything smaller conferences can do to eliminate this wrong? This is proof that the NCAA needs to take over the reffing and eliminate the conference ref. To me, that is the most serious issue.

Weber State fans should be more aware of this issue than other Big Sky fans. Last year, Utah and Oregon both shot 20+ more FTs in their games against Weber. For a program, that should be embarrassing having to win games at the line. In both Weber had leads in the game till Jimmy Casas decided to take over and audition for a spot in the PAC-12. Casas blatantly screwed Weber over in both games. Any common fan could tell he was buckin for a promotion. I really wish the Sky would punish their refs more thoroughly when they blatantly screw over the Sky.

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=313212483" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Easterns Game. Oregon had 24 more FT and won by 8

http://scores.espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=313210265" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sacs Game. Washington State had 20 more FT and won by 11

Whereas, other "big" games in the Sky this week, both home games Weber vs. USU and UM vs. Idalol there wasn't a discrepancy in FT attempts. Weber had 3 or 4 more, only because USU was fouling to get the ball back and the UM vs. UI game was virtually even. This is total SHIT.

you decide whether or not these Sky teams got screwed over.

I was wondering if any other BSC schools picked up on the travesties last night. Sac absolutely dominated WaSU last night. They had 15 point leads on two occasaions and lead for more of the game than WaSU did.

Then the ticky tack fouls and no-calls on our offensive end started in. I watched an HD video feed and was absolutely stunned at some of the calls. Sac was absolutely robbed.

On a side note, they won't be as bad as people (me) think this year. I think they could go 6-10 in BSC possibly...

I saw Casas yelling at Coach Rahe at UofU last year, when Rahe was complaining about the fouls being called, threatened him with a technical if he didn't sit down and stop complaining. Didn't do any good, the free throws were like 45-22 or like that.

When I saw Casas come out Tuesday, I was worried. He seems to have a quick whistle when it comes to Weber....?

Thats why I hate it when we play in the Huntsman, Mariott or the Spectrum. We can never buy a call.

A few years back we played up in Logan and USU had like 20 free throws to our 5 AT HALFTIME and we were up like 12 points.

Last year's Utah game and every year at the Marriot we cant buy calls, I dont like the pick on the little guy mentality. Everygame should be reffed fairly. Eastern and Sac got screwed last night, and I know how thier fans feel.

Heck look what the refs did to Montana in the BSC Championship last year............

True, but on the other hand, did anyone see that refs practically handed Montana a win against Idaho last night. To be fair, the Grizzlies were up by a lot at the break, but Idaho dominated the second half, came back, was threatening to take the lead, but then all the sudden they couldn't play defense to save their souls because they got whistled for a foul everytime they breathed on a Grizzly player.

The NCAA needs to get a handle on these out of confrense games. The inequities and cheating that is going on is blatant. There are two things, that they could do, that would change everything. They could require all OOC game contracts to be home and home. And, they could take over scheduling all of the officials for those games. If they were to do those two things, maybe the bigger programs wouldn't fear going on the road to play a lesser team. They could also do a much better job of policing the officiating ranks, and get rid of the dirty refs. If it is so easy for us to pick them out, I'm sure that the NCAA is aware of it and could do something. :twocents:

I am trying to remain fairly objective about the game versus Oregon last night. I don't like to be critical of officiating. That said, the disparity in the number of fouls called on each team was troubling to say the least. I say this because in the first half the refs were calling a few fouls on each team, but for the most part letting the teams play. EWU outplayed Oregon in the first half, no question about it. In the second half, it seemed like we were being called for a foul every time Oregon had the ball. I felt like they called a couple stupid ones on the Ducks as well, but the officiating was not balanced in that second half. It wasn't like in the Gonzaga game where were settling for a lot of perimeter shots and not drawing a lot of fouls. EWU was outscoring the Ducks in the paint and not drawing many fouls. We had three players foul out of the game on three straight possessions. When the game was still very much up in the air EWU could not do anything defensively without getting a PF. It was frustrating. Even some of the Duck fans mentioned it was BS. I really hope someone actually looks at these games where there is a large disparity in the number of fouls called, because this was ridiculous. We had to sit 3 of our best players for large portions of the game because of all the ticky-tack fouls being called. I don't mind if PF's are being called both ways, but come on.

hopefully we get a fair game called at st mary's.

As if, we will get fair calls against JVille State and San Fran State, but when we play St. Mary's get ready for the whistlefest

so is there a way to get in contact with the NCAA and voice some of the ideas expressed on here? this is a valid point and i would bet if we got on other mid major schools forrmus we would see much of the same thing. maybe start a letter or petition with numerous school on there who all agree something should be done.

The problem is that the NCAA is the problem. They have known about these problems for ever. They won't do anything about it because they are run by the large institutions who do all the cheating. Why do you think that Michigan can buy houses and cars for their players and just get their hands slapped, but Idaho State can buy an extra soda pop for a recruit and be put on probation with a loss of scholarships. The NCAA is not about having fair competition, its all about preserving the wealth of a few and keeping everyone else in their rightfull place. Every time the big boys threaten to pull out of the NCAA, and from their own league, the NCAA caves. They get what they want through extortion and the silent majority shakes in their shoes and keeps their mouths shut. :censored:

I looked at the box for that game. It looked like a fairly called game. Utah had more fouls called on them in the second half, but that could be accounted for by MSU having a slight lead and Utah fouling for posession. It looks like that game could have gone either way. MSU must have made their FTs down the stretch, or Utah just couldn't take advantage. Either way, I'd take that officiating on the road any day.

I' bet that Utah never plays MSU again. If Utah wanted that kind of treatment, they could have played USU.

Well...I was kinda shocked to see two OT games on Wednesday night. Did anyone see how many FTs UND shot over UM? Since UND is a future member, I'll let it slide.  Thats for Jon too... loool

anyway, I was happy to see ISU play tough against Loyola Marymount. I've heard that ISU should have won, but my source on that is fairly biased towards the Bungles. Nonetheless, so far, ISU has played fairly well. Morgan had a nice game, I guess we could count it as being a "Break Out" game for the Bungles.

So far...SAC is the biggest surprise. Garrity and Eberhard were both great finds for Katz.

Man the Sky is going to be TOUGH this year. Montana is full strength again and upset Long Beach State, E. Wash looks dangerous, Montana State could do some damage, and Sac.... yes I know Sac will be no slouch this year as well. Let alone that NAU, Portland, and Northern Colorado will cause some noise as well. Heck, I'll even throw ISU a bone, even though they lost to an injury-riddled Aggie team tonight. With how well the Big Sky has been playing out of conference this year we better be climbing in the SOS during BSC play.
