Awards and All-Conference Predictions

It's about that time of year again, and it seems like this thread could use a break from the Randy Rahe hate/love banter. My guesses ...

MVP: Tyler Hall, Montana State (Best player in the conference, hands down)
Newcomer of the Year: Randy Onwuasor, Southern Utah (Scoring machine from Texas Tech)
Freshman of the Year: Jordan Davis, Northern Colorado (No-brainer)
Defensive Player of the Year: Jacob Wiley, Eastern Washington (Best on defensive glass since Joel)
6th Man of the Year (Top Reserve): Walter Wright, Montana (Bumped to bench and thrived there)
Coach of the Year: Brian Jones, North Dakota (Obvious choice for top team)

FIRST TEAM: (Stacked with Talented Guards)
Tyler Hall, Montana State, Sophomore, Guard
Jeremy Senglin, Weber State, Senior, Guard
Victor Sanders, Idaho, Junior, Guard
Quinton Hooker, North Dakota, Senior, Guard
Jacob Wiley, Eastern Washington, Senior, Forward
Ethan Telfair, Idaho State, Senior, Guard (Sneaks in because of high assist ratio)

SECOND TEAM:
Randy Onwuasor, Southern Utah, Junior, Guard (Would be 1st team if not so one-dimensional)
Bogdan Bliznyuk, Eastern Washington, Junior, Forward
Geno Crandall, North Dakota, Sophomore, Guard
Ahmaad Rorie, Montana, Sophomore, Guard
Justin Strings, Sacramento State, Junior, Forward

HONORABLE MENTION:
Jordan Davis, Northern Colorado, Freshman, Guard
Jordyn Martin, Northern Arizona, Junior, Forward
Kyndahl Hill, Weber State, Senior, Forward
De’Sean Parsons, Portland State, Senior, Forward

I think Kyndahl Hill could challenge Wiley for DPOY, but it probably won't happen. I think Braxton is also on the outside looking in as a bubble guy for Honorable Mention.

I like this Hawks...nice job.

However, I think the MVP could end up being either Quinton Hooker or Jacob Wiley depending on whoever wins the Championship tomorrow night. Also, I think Justin Strings is more deserving of 1st team than Ethan Telfair. Without him The Hornets are not good.

Right. Traditionally, the Big Sky gives MVP to the team who wins the conference, but Mikh McKinney broke that trend. Telfair was a bubble pick for me. If their is one 1st-teamer I'm not sure of, it's him.

Jordan Davis is a sophomore...Jordyn Martin is a redshirt senior...the only no-brainer is Harald Frey as freshman of the year, hard for Jordan Davis to be FOY when he is a sophomore...

Telfair is shooting 33 percent this year. He has had a nightmare senior season and Idaho State is at the bottom of the league. He's not an all-league pick, first-team, second-team or anywhere this season. And he will be the first to tell you that.

Here is our All-Big Sky women's list. We will have a men's list tomorrow.
