Thanks CP! Now we just gotta take care of bus in essence and hope NAU trips up in the easy remainder of their schedule.

Like a 4 or 5 way tie for 1st place actually. We need to win out and hope UM beats MSU and that NAU slips up somewhere.

Just caught the final drive and Montana State throws a pick on their last possession and lose the game to Cal Poly. So who has first place in the Big Sky now?

I thought we were ahead of MSU based on our winning the head to head even though it wasn't a conference matchup?

We are ahead for seeding in playoffs. The conference championship can't be decided by anything OOC though unfortunately.

If we beat UM and PSU, Eastern would own all tie-breakers unless we finished tied at 7-1 with NAU and ONLY NAU. Regardless, finishing 10-2 would make us the top playoff seed from the Big Sky based on quality wins and strength of schedule.

First things first, the UM game means EVERYTHING. That, really, is the only thing that matters now.

Lastly, big credit to Coach Walsh at Cal Poly. They looked like maybe the 10th best team in the conference after the first few weeks. Hell, they *escaped* with wins over horrendous Weber State and Southern Utah. Now they look tough and have more 'mo on their side than anyone in the conference.

Wow, and NAU's schedule looks like a cakewalk but Weber gave them a good run so you never know. The key is to win out. :thumb:

That's only partially true. The tiebreakers for the autobid come down to conference records, head to head conference wins against the tied teams, and then head-to-head non-conference wins against tied teams if applicable. Given that we beat MSU, in a tiebreaker scenario where everything else is equal, that win would come into play despite it being a non-con game.

Again, finish 10-2 and everything falls into place. The only thing the team needs to worry about is beating Montana. Screw that one up and it all falls apart!

Interesting. I thought anything OOC was unusable. Thanks for clearing that up.

It came into play in 2012 when we finished tied with Cal Poly and Montana State. We won the head to head with Montana State but also beat Cal Poly in a non-con game. Since Cal Poly and MSU hadn't played that year, we won the autobid based on the conference win and the non-con win.

Things are going to get really interesting in the next couple of weeks:

EWU plays Montana, then @ PSU. Montana is probably a 50/50 game and PSU always plays us tough.
CP plays @ Idaho State, but then doesn't have a really finish to the season with UC Davis and San Diego
ISU plays CP, @ MSU, and then closes out the season against Weber - who is better than their record.
Montana plays @ EWU, @ SUU, and then vs. MSU. They could drop two games and miss the playoffs.
MSU plays PSU and ISU at home, and then @ Montana. They need to win 2 of 3 of those games to make the playoffs.

And then there's NAU, who must have the easiest schedule in the history of the Big Sky. Don't play either Montana school, got gifted their win against CP, and then the miracle against EWU. They play vs. UC Davis, @ UND, and then against SUU to close out the year. NAU most likely wins their remaining games and flukes their way into the playoffs (and possibly the BSC auto-bid). :o

I would much rather see CP get the auto-bid than NAU...that is, if we don't get it. I think CP is starting to play playoff caliber football and would represent the conference a lot better than NAU, who I think is not even a playoff caliber team right now.

Also interesting is that I think ISU could really give MSU a game. I expect a lot of points to be scored in that game.

Eagledawg,
After we lost to NAU, some individuals acted as if the world was coming to an end. I got my wish. I wished that we get some help defeating Undefeated Big Sky Teams. We got our help. Now it is our duty to get back to the winning road and play like we are accustomed of playing. This game is going to be hard this weekend, but winnable. Jordan West keeps improving, the OL/DL/CB/SP and all are coming around at the right time. Everything depends how we play our games from here on out. Love how those young Players are are performing, just hoping they will keep it up. ;) ;) ;) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:       Just hope we can really Stack the Stands again this weekend. I know the Bars are going to make a lot of money, get my drift? ;) ;) ;) :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    All for a "GOOD" cause. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
