Hello board members, first and foremost my name is Eric and I am a freshman at Isu although I lived in Florida , I am a immigrant to this country from Europe so my English grammar is not the best.i found this board from Google. I come from a very sport fanatic type family from Florida, and I am fairly new to the state of Idaho. Very recently I met a player from the men's basketball team , Gary Chivichyan, I got a chance to talk to him, and get to know him more from class. He invited me to the Webber state game and asked me to bring anyone else I knew to the game, and boy I was glad I came. I got to see him in class this week and told him about the game, and he thanked me for coming to the game which I appreciated. I will make it an effort to come to every home game from now on. What particularly interests me in sports and what made Gainesville such a big sports town (hometown) was the fans, students , parents getting to know the players and their backgrounds

I did some research on the men's basketball team and found Ethan telfairs story very interesting,

http://sneakerreporter.com/catching-up-with-ethan-telfair-idaho-state-point-guard/llowed" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; his brother when I was younger when he was going threw the and 1 circuit and into the nba.

That is an interesting article on Ethan and his nba lineage. I have heard he is doing well and I'm happy that he is helping Isu win the important games.

By googling names, I found Gary Chivichyans story very interesting to, he comes from a family of professional Mma fighters, his father is a martial art hall of famer, who has trained many of the top Ufc competitors which includes Ronda Rousey. His brother was offered a pro basketball contract in Europe but is a fighter himself, and is currently in trials for the 2016 Olympics in judo.

Articles on Gary's father and videos.

My family has alwsys taught me that in order for people to become sport fans sometime all it takes is to learn about these players and find things that relate to us fans. When we do we get naturally attached to these things and don't want to miss a game. I was happy to come to my first home game against Webber state and I'd like to continue this in my 4 years here as a student.

If anyone has any background on players and more info on where they come from and etc, please do share.
Thank you board members, I am glad I searched players names , and found this board. Please be nice to my grammar I am learning very fast.

Welcome aboard Eric, and thanks for the great info! You're right, getting to know the players as people makes it easier and more fun to root for them. I hope more students get excited about this badketball team. The energy from the students is what makes college basketball more fun.
