Great Bracketbuster win for the Jacks!
Cal Poly senior Sean Lewis hits back to back threes to tie the game with 8 seconds (Cal Poly senior night) and NAU hits a three at the buzzer to win. Nice shot and a good game. Good luck the rest of the season. :thumb:

Thanks for the kind words, SloStang. That was a fun game to follow on the radio. I know there'll be a football series between NAU and Cal Poly soon but any chance of a home and home basketball series becoming a yearly staple? Cal Poly's team defense was impressive. Best of luck the rest of the way and I will be sure to check in on your Thursday slate vs. LBSU.

Oh yeah, it sure was nice to be on the other end of a buzzer-beating, game-winning shot after two going against NAU this year. Three games to go til tourney time.

Cal Poly second buzzer beating loss vs one win. Cal Poly beat Hawaii and lost to UC Santa Barbara last second baskets.

I would like to see Cal Poly and NAU playing more basketball games.

BTW, I met a NAU basketball recruit who was there with his family. Shooting Gaurd. Did not catch his name, but he and his family seemed like good people.

SloStang -

I don't follow recruiting very well (to be honest, NAU's limited fan base and media coverage doesn't create a buzz like recruiting at bigger schools...U of A around here... does) but I did see this on espn's website.

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/school/_/id/2464/northern-arizona-lumberjacks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

All three of NAU's recruits are wings/guards from Southern California so I can see any of them easily making the trek up to Cal Poly for the game. Danny Cheek is the shooting guard recruit, though.

NAU has a hard time getting teams to come play in Flagstaff due to the elevation and travel distance/rural location. Hope that a series materializes.
