Anyone planning on going to the game in SLC vs USU on Saturday? Luckily, there isnt a football game that day, so no conflicts! Game is at 2:30pm, and I am seeing that it might be on ESPN3. Can anyone verify that for me? I really hope that the momentum of last week carries over to the USU game. I would love to keep our winning streak vs them going. I believe that we are 2-0 vs USU in SLC. USU peeps acting like they have Kentucky type talent up there, and are already writing off the game as a loss for WSU. I would sure like to go down and beat them by 20.

Cougarville is ablaze after the Y's loss to us ...

They want Rose's head, right after Holmoe's is chopped off. A lot of Y fans are unsettled by the return of Emery after all the intrigue. The football team was meh again and there seems to be a storm a-brewing. It's past time for restlessness and almost to a full Utah-county Paris-like revolt.

This is a really interesting week for in-state basketball. The Aggies play BYU in Provo on Wed. If there was ever a "must" game for the Y, it's that one. The Aggies have played well, but no one knows if they are real (and you can't trust Aggie fans who rarely live in the real world). The Aggies prove they are the real deal and win and the Saturday match-up between the Cats and Ags is for bragging rights to best team in the state.

I have a feeling that Utah is actually the worst team in state. So the Y/U match-up may be to actually stay out of the cellar in the minds of in-state fans. Either way, USU/WSU is definitely more interesting.

The Y loses both games this week and look for the nuclear glow from Utah County!

Where are you seeing that? Most Aggie fans are excited but this team but I haven't seen anyone that thinks that we're even a top MW team yet. The team has made great strides this season so far and has exceeded the expectations of most fans but that doesn't mean that we can't be beat. Here are some of the comments I've seen about the Weber game:
Randy Rahe. Weber is always tough.
IMO Weber will be a fairly close game but I think we get the win this year. Harding, John, Braxton, and Chapman are all very good.
Weber just ran BYU off the floor. Our conditioning will be tested to the max on Saturday. Tons of athleticism and decent shooting. Queta will be huge for us.

I know most Aggie fans were cheering for you last weekend. Here's to a good game this weekend.

Best to your crew tonight. As "ProvoAggie" I'm sure there is some interesting away-from-the-game intrigue going on for you!

Would love to see the Cats and Aggies play on Saturday for In-State bragging rights.

Living in Provo can be kind of weird but the last few years most of the BYU fans down here are so far down on their teams (football and basketball) that they don't even want to talk about it anymore. I've been telling people all week how weird it's going to be on Saturday to have the BYU/Utah game be the opener for the main event between USU and Weber.

"Not really worried about the Weber game... we should be favored by 10+ in that one and I don't see it being all that close based on how we've played thus far."

"Weber we should beat comfortably"

That is 2 comments from 1 fan (they're even from the same post). I don't think that's the opinion of most of the fan base.

Love this Aggie offense. There is great off ball movement, screens, and it is definitely pass happy. The Aggies aren't as fast or even talented as the Cats, but are actual basketball players. They are patient and make the extra pass opening up the offense and getting good looks at the basket. It is something Randy once preached...getting your teammate open and making the extra pass to score. It was an offense that was high on passing and assists. Now I'm not really sure what Randy is trying to do. We already took a lot of 3's but at least they were open shots usually. Whereas now, we just chuck it. I'd rather have grounded players than guys who think they are the next Lillard. Losing McEwen was actually very good for the Aggies. Made them more of a team. Who cares if you have the most talent on earth if you can't teach or develop it.

Went down to watch. I think it's official, the Utes are the worst team in the state. Color me pleased!

After the disaster at Fresno, I couldn't believe that we spent another 32 minutes looking like that pathetic team. Glad they finally started gelling a bit again for the last 8 minutes. Nero really brought us back. That kid shoots and you have a feeling its going down.

I think the Aggies made 10 of their first 13 shots as they built that big lead. They just weren't missing and I knew they couldn't stay that hot, but hoped we wouldn't stay so cold. Good to see Chapman show up with a double/double, and Braxton was himself the second half. Those two were totally dominated at Fresno. We were 6 for 7 from FT in the first half and then missed the next 7 out of 10. That killed us because we were having such trouble scoring. Doc missed two then Braxton missed two. You could see us building some momentum and then they'd throw up bricks at the line. Doc has looked lost the last two games.

The freshman center for the Aggies will be entertaining to watch progress. He's going to be a good one. My guess is the Aggies will come down to earth a bit in MWC. They are big, and Merrill is sure good, but I think they'll see some good athletes in conference that will poise a real challenge for them. I honestly think the MWC is a better basketball league than the PAC, especially with how good Nevada is. I will watch how the Aggies do with interest, they look like they've found a really good coach.

Basketball season is really long and it's hard to maintain high energy every game for 4-5 months. Don't know what the issue was for the guys in the 1st half Saturday, but they did get things going in the 2nd half. It might be easy to think, "We beat BYU and BYU beat USU, so this won't be too hard." Not saying that's what they thought, but they were not dialed in at the start for whatever reason. Lessons learned, hopefully.

I saw the same thing: one team that looked like a group of players with a good set of basketball skills who moved the ball and worked well as a team, and one who seemed to love the 3pt shot but didn't really seem comfortable playing together as a team. It actually seemed a little like the JAZZ often look this year; little ball movement or movement without the ball and an offensive focus to toss up 3s, with no one in position for a rebound.

I've really hated Chapman living on the 3pt line and wish he was more of a forward player for this team, but I suppose he does what Rahe wants him to do. It's really more about how the game has changed. Watching teams try to out-3 each other while players become more and more less skilled defensively, in all-around shooting, passing, and rebounding is just not as entertaining to watch, or effective for most teams.
