Okay, it's obviouslly a slow time right now. Bengal fans, let's talk about something different. How about letting everyone know how long have you been a Bengal fan?

For me, I really didn't become a serious Bengal fan until Jenna Brown signed with the women's basketball team. Since then, I've donated a little money to the foundation and attended some basketball games. Now that Jenna's graduated, I will still support the school and attend basketball games. Prior to that, I was a casual Bengal fan since about 1979 or so. I had respect for the Bengals and attended BSU vs.ISU sporting events in both Boise and Pocatello. Most of them were basketball and football games.

My Bengal love started in 1975.

At 3 years of age I do not remember much. Sadley, I don't remember much from the 1977 basketball team because I was just a little Cub. I would say 1978-79 was when I started to care and to start to understand.

My Dad was the equipment manager at ISU before Jim Slaughter. So, from 1975-1987--I basically lived at the Dome with my dad. It was one of those things that I didn't realize was so wonderful until I reflect back now as an adult. As a kid, I would walk to the Dome every day after school. I have seen things and places in that Dome that most people don't know exist. I got to play there with my friends and my Dad would turn on the lights to the football field and the basketball court on the weekends and my friends and I had free reign.

So, I saw practices--watched film and got to know tons of players, coaches and administration. I was a ball boy for basketball and football and I even got the chance to be a ball boy when ISU hosted the National Championships for football. As I type this, I can't believe how incredibly fortunate I was to have these things as a kid.

These were some of the best days of my life and I have been a die hard Bengal fan ever since. It hasn't always been easy, but I will always love ISU. Nothing and I mean nothing can ever change the fact that ISU is my team and I will forever believe that I am ISU's number one fan. I am sure that others exist that can say the same--but to me and those who know me...that title will always be mine.

Go Bengals--I'll love ya forever and ever.

I think I need to go wipe a tear and clear some snot from my nose. Thanks for putting this up as a topic Spaz--ISU is so special to me.

Thanks for sharing, Bengalcub. It sounds like your dad was quite the guy. Sharing those experiences with you had to be special.

Cub...

Your dad WAS quite a guy...and was a "true Bengal"! He was great to be around and work with...
