It certainly appears (on paper, at least) that this will be O'Brien's strongest team:

CENTER:

SR. Lucas Steijn, 6-11, 240 lbs

JR. David Busma, 7-0, 245 lbs

SO. Tom Taylor, 6-11, 225 lbs

FR. Sherrod Baldwin, 6-0, 180 lbs

Possible Starting Scenarios - I think it will change a lot this year though.
1. Kal , Amorrow
2. Amorrow , Donnie
3. Stucki , Austin
4. Felix, Chron , Meech
5. Davidus , Luc , Tom

Mike Lacey will also figure into the G rotation if not redshirted, as well as Sherrod Baldwin, who as of right now is not going to redshirt. We will be deep. Sherrod really impresses me. Great handles, quick, accurate shot, and he can jump out of the gym!

Just a feeling: Baldwin will be the starting PG by the end of the season.

Maybe sooner? With less than a month to go until the first exhibition I wonder how efficient Bay will be after nursing an injury all summer. Any idea on how he's healing up?

He's still trying to get into shape. I think Bay is viewed more as a 2G than a PG, although he may well get some time there. The great thing is: there is incredible flexibility in this roster -- Morgan, Stucki, Baldwin and Bay can all perform at the point. And just about every other position offers similar flexibility.

Kal is doing good. He's participating in open gym. Their will definitely be competition for starting positions and playing time. Which will be a good thing so the guys wont let up in practice or games their is someone that can replace them just like that. I am not sure about the local kid from century i haven't seen him play. I heard from a local coach that he is week defensively and O'Brien is not about that . He wants guys that play defense.

According to O'Brien, Miller (I believe is his name) will "definitely redshirt".

Skippy and others that may have good incite to this team, what do you realistically see our win/loss record this year and why?

I am predicting a 7-7 OOC record and a 12-4 BSC record, and with the BSC tourney, I see us amassing 20 wins or there about this year. I believe our OOC wins are: EOU, LBSU, Idaho, BSU, Hawaii, Wisconsin-GB, and one of the Utah's (BYU, UofU, or USU). Plus, I wouldn't be shocked to see us sneak another one. In conference, I think we'll lose 3 on the road, and 1 at home. Seriously... Maybe it's just my wishful thinking, but these next two years, I fear NO ONE in the BSC, except maybe PSU...

Not having seen any of the new kids play or know how all the pieces fit together, I'm going to guess five or six non-conference wins and 10 in league. I see ISU as being as good a bet to win the conference tourney as anybody, with the "host" team having a significant advantage, of course. Some years, 10 wins is good enough to host. We shall see.

Bay broke a finger and is healing well; I doubt it has affected his conditioning at all. I do know that Kal worked very hard this summer with a personal trainer, he should be in top shape!

As for Bay not being a "true point," all I can say is that the proof is in the pudding and I do not think Kal will disappoint!

Crap...I wasn't aware ISU was going to have 6 players taller than any Weber players this year...I'll just have to hope none of em are good!

But then again 6'11" Scott Morrison was last year's defensive player of the year with just 6 rebounds per game.

I just checked out the Sporting News and Street & Smith's college hoops previews, and both have us tabbed as #2 behing Portland St.

HEY weber-
Do you still have Emmanuel Lewis starting?

Yes!! aka Midge!! He is a senior. We will have 2 other returning starters - Steve Panos, Center; and Daviin Davis, Small Forward. Trevor Morris will be our 4 and we will have a newb for our 2 - likely JC transfer from Pocatello - Nick Hansen.

Does anyone know the full predictions from Street n Smith? I only see PSU n ISU in your post.

WSU will be young but we are hoping Coach Rahe has a few tricks up his sleeve for '09.

I think everyone is planning on ISU/PSU/UM being the teams to beat this year.
