Berry had his usual slow start but then came on with lots of leadership and intensity -
especially compared to some of his team mates. Hope Roy has a good write up in
the SE tomorrow. Nice comments about Weber and Randy as well. A good day for
WSU and the Big Sky.

What are his NBA prospects?
Will he play in Europe?

He might be a late 2nd rounder if he does get the nod. Most likely he will end up as a free agent on a summer league team and will probably see some serious time in the preseason. The odds are against him making a team, so I'm sure he will end up playing the bulk of his career international, but will play for one of the better overseas organizations. As for the NBA, I'm sure the Jazz are aware of him. If nobody gives him a look, they will. They are always in need of a good 2. Hell, lets be honest, they are in need of an entire team.

Has he been invited to the Chicago pre-draft camp? I did not see him on the list for the Portsmouth Invitational. That's okay because I think that nobody that goes there really gets drafted anymore. I remember when that was the premiere tournament for seniors.

I think if Berry is going to have an NBA career it will have to be as a point guard. His skills match up pretty well with the type of point that NBA teams are looking for these days. Don't think he is a good enough shooter to make it as a shooting guard and wonder if he is quick enough for the point. But I think point is his only shot.

He is sort of a tweener for the NBA. I agree that he would project as a point guard. He is quick enough and shoots well enough. The Jazz might look at him as a back up point. He was really our best point guard. However, he was also our best off guard and small forward. He played point guard for the all star game. He does a lot of things well. I don't know if he will be drafted, but he will get a chance in the NBA, somewhere.

How hard is it to get drafted? I realize this is just one list of prospects but Shabazz Napier, the hero of last night's national championship game, is only listed as No. 42 by this rating. Scott Wilbekin who led Flordia to 30 straights wins and the No. 1 ranking, is No. 99. And no, there is no Davion Berry on this list.

I'm sure that Dev would like to be drafted. However, not getting drafted is often better than being a late second round pick. It gives you more freedom to choose where you might have the best chance of sticking with a team and ultimately making a name for yourself. Mathews got on with the Jazz in that manor and then got a big contract with Portland. He has done well up there ever since. Dev is much like Mathews. If the Jazz don't sign him to a free agent contract, I'm sure that someone in the league will give him a look. If he ends up in Europe, that is not so bad either. Willie Sojourner made a very good career in Italy. They still have a bronze statue of him at his club's facility. :thumb: :thumb:
