Who is the best coach in the Big Sky besides these two?

Earlier in the year I was thinking BJ Hill or Murphy. I have been impressed with Evans at ISU lately. I think Katz deserves a ton of credit and may be my pick for #3 in the Sky. It is super hard to recruit to Sac State and his kids seem to overachieve.

Now for the worst coach in Sky. I still think it is Brian Jones at UND. He has a ton of talent and appears to have little control of hot dog and crew. He paces the sidelines with his arms out complaining the whole time and makes few adjustments. I also have not been very impressed with Robinson at SUU.

I'm not impressed by SUU's Robinson at all. I was hoping when SUU entered the Big Sky they would have a better team and further develop the rivalry with Weber. It would do nothing but good for Weber to have an intense, heated in-state conference rival. It would be good for both programs and Weber's fan base. I think the rivalry will continue to grow but not with this coach. Right now I can hardly watch when Weber plays SUU. You can hardly call it basketball, it's more like Basketbrawl and the inevitable parade to the free throw line. It's ugly and not fan friendly.

As a sidenote to SUU. I think it would be fun if SUU and Weber got together and came up with a trohpy or cup to play for in both basketball and football. I think playing for a symbol, something tangible the players, students and fans can actually hold and get pictures with means a lot. Living in PHX the ASU-UofA rivalry is huge. In football they play for the Territorial Cup. It's a little silver, coffee-pot type of trophy that gets passed from school to school when they win. ASU displays it prominently at the football stadium and brings it out for the fans to see at activities/gatherings. They even let fans hold it and get their pictures taken with it. I have pictures of my kids holding it and they think that is the coolest thing. Builds loyalty and passion amongst the fans and the young fans who turn in to season ticket holders/donors down the line.

Rahe and Tinkle are definately the class of the Big Sky.

I like the job Evans has done at ISU. He's brought some life to a long lifeless program. I think ISU's program will benefit from having Idaho back in the Big Sky. Again, an in-state conference rival.

Katz would be the number three coach in the Sky, and then Bill Evans. Evans was a stroke of genius for the Bengals. Gotta hand it to Jeffery Tingey on that hire. He got a good one.

Personally, I don't think Hill or Murphy are bad either. Both are excellent coaches and are showing their ability to get the most out of their teams. I really don't think UNCO fans get how lucky they are to have BJ doing his thing for them. He is fun to mock, but is a good coach.

Don't throw Robinson to the wolves just yet. I think he did some pretty miraculous things last year. Yes he had great senior leadership and that really helps, but the writing was on the wall for this season. Everyone knew that it was going to be a rough year in Cedar, since they had very little returning from last years team. He is forced to recruit mostly Utah kids or area kids who can get residency quickly. SUU doesn't want to pay $$$ for out of state athletic scholarships. Getting Utah kids to commit to SUU is hard, and in a lot of cases it is the 6th option or even 7th option for these kids. Some rather go to DSC. However, even though SUU is a bunch of scrappers and commit a lot of fouls, I think they have improved and will only get better. He desperately needs a couple of JC kids though to help out for next year. A big and maybe a wing.

Worst: Huse...but he does try his hardest. He just isn't successful in Bozeman, but might be somewhere else.
