Best 10th team and travel partner for Sacramento

There have been may talks (fanwise) about the Big Sky adding a 10th team and who would be the best team to fit that role, there have been talks on other fanboards about North Dakota and South Dakota leaving the Great west to join the MVC, leaving only Cal Poly, SUU and UC-Davis to make up that football conference, 2 of these 3 teams are members of the Big West Basketball Conference, SUU is apart of the Summit League.

So out of these 3 teams, would be the best travel parter with the Hornets of Sac St?

I would take any of the 3, but a really good travel partner for Sac I think would be UC-Davis, the Aggies are practically next door neighbors to the Hornets and the rivalry between these to schools is even better than the so-called "rivalry" we have with SUU. The only problem is that they are currently a member of the Big West Basketball conference which is made up of just California schools, the question is would UC-Davis want to leave an all California conference for the Big Sky?

Anybody else have some thoughts?

The reason for me making this thread is becuase those weeks with only Sac and ISU one game a week weeks really took it out of me :D

I can't pinpoint exactly why, but I don't want SUU anywhere near the Big Sky. UC Davis for sure. They reeled in some top recruits for 2010 two 90's and an 88. Alex Tiffin was someone we were looking at, at one point I think.

I think SUU would be a good choice. An instate rival would be fine. UC Davis would be okay too but I would rather have SUU.

Cal Poly and UC Davis are not going to leave the Big West. They would drop football or go independent before they would do that. And the Big Sky won't take any football only schools, and doesn't want S Utah. And after what their men's basketball team has done this year, can you blame them? S Utah would need to make major improvements before an invite to the Sky would come. The subject of expansion comes up all the time but I don't see it happening anytime soon. The more important question is what, if anything, does the conference do if Montana leaves? That is a real possibility.

I second that.

UC Davis would be best choice, but it will all depend on football at UC Davis.
I would hate to the Montana schools leave. Lets face it, the only reasons Weber got into the FCS playoffs this year is because of the added strength of UM football. That doesn't mean I hate them any less, but lets at least be honest about this. Having a strong conference in basketball and football is very important. The Big Sky will probably always be a 1 did team for basketball and hopefully a 2 or 3 bid team for football. Losing the Montanas would make the Sky a 1 bid team in both.

I would have to say add SUU, the more road trips I can go to without flying the better. and I also would hate to see Montana leave the Big Sky in a way.
