Best Eagles games in history

Not much going on here pre-Summer camp.

I'm throwing out my favorite Eastern games in history, at least from a historical perspective... feel free to throw yours into them mix:

1967 28-14 win over New Mexico Highlands NAIA semifinals

I wasn't around to see this one, but I've heard stories that NMHU was a team of stone-cold killers, and Eastern took it to them. I believe this was Eastern's first ever playoff win of any kind.

2016 45-42 win over Washington State season opener

Beating big brother down the road was always going to be a big deal, but beating them in a year they almost won the Pac-12 was even bigger.

1992 17-16 win over Boise State regular season finale

A long Bronco field goal sailed wide on the last play, and Eastern wins their first Big Sky title.

2013 49-46 win over Oregon State season opener

Vernon Adams and Cooper Kupp absolutely go off to beat #25 Oregon State in Corvallis.

1985 42-38 win over Idaho in FCS quarterfinals

The comeback that gave Eastern street cred as a legit FCS program. It's funny that beating Idaho was once considered a big upset.

2010 20-19 win over Delaware National Championship

Clearly the #1, everyone already knows this story.

I could've easily added 2010 against Villanova or 2018 against Maine--- two games where Eastern possibly played the best football I've ever seen from the team.

My first favorite Eagle game was the 1997 win against Idaho 24-21 in Joe Albi Stadium. I had been to a dozen games before that starting in 1989, but this was the first time I was truly captivated by this team. There was a great crowd with a ton of Vandal fans, and it was the first time I had experienced an electric atmosphere at an Eastern game. For me, 1997 was the year that I became a true Eagle fan and it really started at this Idaho game.

2002 vs #1 Montana at Joe Albi. Won in front of over 17,000 fans 30-21 giving EWU a winning season. This was a signature win confirming EWU was forreal. Getting Timm Rosenbach as OC back then as OC (2001) seemed to kickstart EWU as a high flying offense and hasn't looked back ever since.

*Not neccesarily one of top ten perhaps I just remember it being really fun (and a bunch of Montana fans).

Oregon State vs. Eastern Washington

CORVALLIS -- How many different ways are there to say that

on Saturday
the Eastern Washington offense shredded the Oregon State defense? Let's see what we can come up with:The Beavers were sliced and diced. Run through and run over. Torched. Embarrassed. Torn up, and beat down.

You get the idea.

We read this article at least 50 times over the next couple days along the Oregon coast. Not the best games ever but so much fun.

2010 griz game. First home game on the red turf and first time beating the griz in Cheney since 1991. Absolute nail biter til the very end.

2005 vs Montana is right up there for me. As memory serves, Eastern was holding onto a small lead late. Eagles were driving but I thought they'd settle for a field goal. Instead, Meyer throws a strike to Vijil in the end zone essentially icing the victory. Was pretty sweet.

Definitely a great one... crowd stormed the field too early and Eastern got hit with a 15 yard penalty. Montana got an untimed down when Renard Williams picked up a QB fumble and scored another TD.

The other great Montana game was 2012 when Eastern went onside to score two late TDs on Montana and win after playing like utter crap all game long.

Yes! That was a great game! I remember thinking late in the 2012 game, "Well, after 2010, anything is possible." and Shaq Hill recovering the onsite kick. Then Vernon hitting Ashton Clark, who was somehow wide f#$%ing open for the go ahead TD. Man, that was a fun game to be at.

That 2012 game was quintessential Beau Baldwin. Team could play like garbage for most of the game and then play lights out for the last few minutes and win a close one. Friggin' cardiac kids.

There are so many great games. Some that we won, I'm glad we won, but I was not having a good time through some of the game (2nd half against NDSU in the playoffs 2009).

But, I have to say that UC Davis last year was definitely up there among the most enjoyable, though I would've felt differently if we lost. It was such a tightly contested game, and the way we won was the cherry on top. Been on the losing end of some close playoff games, that it was nice for us to pull out the last minute win this time!

Also, I loved the Villanova playoff game, the Oregon State and Wazzu games, and beating UM at their house and shutting them up at their house in 2005. The crap they were giving my wife and I before that game just made it so sweet to beat them in their place!
