Best Name For Weber St - Idaho St Rivalry

I think Weber State and Idaho State need to get together and get something started, each team is each team's biggest rival, we need a name and better yet a traveling trophy for this rivalry.

I like the Railroad Rumble

There use to be a traveling trophey that was like the Iron Horse (Ogden vs. Ben Lomend). There are pictures of it in old Acorns (Weber States year book)

Who cares? this isn't even a rivalry anymore. ISU Blows!. Until ISU can get their crap in a pile why worry about them? I think WSU should focus more on building a rivalry with SUU, at least they have a good team. :twocents:

ISU is the closest BSC team to Weber. I always attend the games in Ogden and WSU travels well to ISU. The record is 35-14 ISU has sucked for the last 9 years but the games are always good. ISU and WSU are both 2 of the 4 charter schools of the BSC this all adds up for the making of a great rivalry. I think that with the hiring of Coach Kramer the coach that has 4 BSC titles and is 4th is BSC wins could drastically change things. I would really like to get the "Railroad Rumble" going and it will take the fans and students of both schools to make it successful.

Weber State has sucked before too, even to the point where the School wanted to drop the program. It was a phase, phases eventually pass, our 2008 Big Sky Championship was the first one in 40 years. We cant exactly crucify other teams for sucking, we have been there done that.

Kramer is one of those guys that could bring ISU back up to snuff, he has the record to prove it. it might not happen immediatley, but eventually ISU will be good again. You say that Weber should be more focused on getting a rivalry started with SUU, but Weber leads that series 14-3, and the 2 teams havent played in 5 years, not sure that makes it so much better than the ISU rivalry.

Now, for the whole its not a rivalry anymore, which games in both Football and Basketball does Weber usually get its highest attendance figures? Idaho State.

ISU is our biggest rival, but we can all feel a growing rivalry with UNC and a rivalry with SUU will eventually come, but at this point its ISU and I would love to see this rivalry get a name and traveling trophy. Montana and Montana State's football record vs each other is lopsided in UM's favor, but each year the game both teams fans look forward to the most is The Brawl of the Wild. Its that same way for the WSU/ISU rivalry, WSU has won what like 8 in a row or something? but its still a heated rivalry that both fan bases get up for.

I am all for getting the "Railroad Rumble" Started.

ISU is, traditionally, the biggest rivalry for Weber State. If you don't believe that, just look at what happens to coaches who lose to ISU on a consistant basis, especially at home. They are no longer with us. When Larry Farmer came in, he asked me who the rivalrys were with. He knew little of the BSC or the local area. I told him about the instate schools and the regular list of BSC foes. When it came to ISU, I told him that he wouldn't survice losing to ISU on our home floor more than once. He didn't smile and I didn't smile. Some others, who were there at the time, confirmed what I had said. When that happend to Larry, he knew he was on the way out.

Does that help you put this rivalry in perspective? :coffee:

Whose side are you on WILDCAT? Was that you I saw the other day getting your ORANGE spray tan on?

Im on the "its time to make Weber State football more of an exciting event by recognizing rivalries" side

I wonder who has that trophy? I do remember it with the two engines facing nose to nose
(like the golden spike pictures) on a finished piece of wood, it seems like it had a plaque
on the wood with each schools name and the game scores for each year. The last time I saw
the trophy was around the same time they stopped chartering the game train 1970-71.The
game train was a great way of promoting WSU VS ISU football, lots of people and a lot of fun.
The train would rotate according to the home school for each year and the trophy would go
to the winning school for that year, seems like WEBER used to display it at the candy counter
glass display on the second floor of the old union building. I could not agree more with WILDCAT about building on a rivalry that already is, has been, and work on making it great again, WHY NOT?
That old trophy may already have a name on it, i cant recall but the name leading on the poll is good with me. I cant figure who would keep that for any kind of personal trophy when it would
mean much more to the schools. maybe it was misplaced in a basement or storage area. I realize
we cant get the train going again but the trophy and many other ideas that are just bursting to
jump out of the marketing department employees brains. I cant wait to hear a few and hope
we do not have to wait that long.

i got this pic yesterday from talhadfourstains. i think it is his moma's yearbook from WSU in the 60's.

Wonder why they retired the "Bell Trophy". Why not bring it back out and make the teams fight for it once again?

It has to be catchy, and have some alteration. It needs to mean something to both schools. How about the Bear Lake Brawl?

Wouldnt it be cool if say the Rivalry does become the "Railroad Rumble" and instead of a traveling trophy, they have a traveling train which the team that wins the Rumble gets to keep and each time the previous years winning team scores the train blows its horn???
