Best opposing player to play in the DEE?

So, are you talking about v Weber, or other players that have graced the court of the DEE? ie NCAA regional games.

I have to go with Keith Van Horn. I remember a game where he must have been close to a triple double at the Dee in points, boards, and blocks. And he was just a sophomore I think. A lot of people think Keith had a crappy pro career, but the guy was taken second overall and averaged something like 16 points per game for his career. That's not a bad way to go. He's retired now to play Mr. Mom, but I'll always have the memories. I idolized the guy so much that back in my high school playing days, I wore extra long socks, just like the Horn dog.

As far as Big Sky players, Ross Land from NAU was pretty freaking scary. He could launch threes like no one I've ever seen. Every time he touched the ball, I got a little nervous. I hate to give opponents respect, but he was pretty darn good. I believe he currently holds the Big Sky record for 3's in a career with 308, and shot 46 percent from beyond the arc for his career. I always dreamed Weber would get a long-range bomber of that caliber. That's why they need me on the team. :o Oh no I didn't!

Big Sky Championship 2003... Weber State had won 16 games in a row, and there was only one man that could stop the Cats cold in their tracks: Alvin Snow. Thankfully, he had Danny "the parasite" parasue on his team who took the last second three and airballed it, but he came so close to ruining a perfect season. He was virtually flawless in every game I saw him play... Great Athlete.
I also have to say Glen Robinson. Against Purdue Weber was down by like 9 at half-time and had the momentum going into the locker room, and I'll never forget the clinic Robinson put on in the second half. he was unstoppable. I think Purdue ended up beating the Cats by like 30, and that was against an excellent Weber State team.

Thanks for resurecting Danny Pariseau. Just the other day I was thinking about that championship game and thinking..who was that little white kid for EWU who looked like he was 12? He was definitley hateable, just because he looked like a Catholic altar boy. He had yet to hit puberty. Poor lil guy.

Two of the most memorable players to hit the hardwood at the Dee were
John Stockton - what else needs to be said
Michael Findley - ok, ok, this was during the NCAA tourney still it was fun to watch him play.

You mean Bobby Brady...

Don't for get about Hester with his lame taunting after a dunk, Alvin Snow? Brandon Merrit? Mark Axton? The Mullet?

I really miss the old EWU! Too bad Giacolleti left for Utah, that was the best rivalry we've had in years...

Ahh, I remember Mullet. I always thought he should have been playing for NAU because he actually looked like a real Lumberjack. Whenever he'd touch the ball, certain members of the student section would chant MULL-ET MULL-ET. Those were great times. The Dee was more packed for that Big Sky championship than I've ever seen it before. I remember I had to settle for a crappy seat way up high and I was pissed because where the heck were all those "fans" during the regular season?

Anyone remember the worst call in history during that game, when the refs called a technical foul on the crowd at what was suppposed to be a neutral site? It didn't end up changing the game, but it could have. There would have been a riot if Weber would have lost. I could be in prison right now.

We ended up being this guy when he came to the Dee three years age, but Rod Stucky from EWU was awesome. I remember thinking that I was going to go and see this great player, and half way through the game I had not seen anything amazing. Then I looked at his stat sheet, and he had 20 points, 8 dimes, and a handful of rebounds. Talk about killing you and not knowing it.

The other guy is recent to. It might even be the same year. When Keena Young came to the Dee, and beat Weber all by himself in overtime. One time on the court, and he torched us. That was one bad dude that night.

Tanoka Beard? Tanoka Beard? WHAT? He wasn't even the best player on his high school team at Bonneville or in jr. high at TH Bell (trust me, I was there). But he is big. I didn't know until I looked, but he is still playing in Europe.

I have seen some great players at the Dee, but the best I have seen is hands down Rodney Stucky from Eastern Washington. I felt bad for him because EWU sucks balls and he was pretty much all they had, but he was a man among boys. Now he is one of the main players for Detroit.
Other I would consider: Kieth Van Horn, Andre Miller, and Ron Price. Stucky was unreal though in my opinion

Danny Sprinkle for MSU was pretty damn dangerous. He could drive, rebound, and shoot lights out from the perimeter. Thankfully, he didn't have much support, so he didn't cause to much damage.

Heh...a Ross Land sighting on the Weber State board. Awesome.

Those were good years to be a Lumberjacks fan. That's back when "recruit to shoot" was a motto to live by. I saw NAU's tourney game in 2001 (?) down in Tucson when lousy stinking St. Johns beat NAU in the final seconds. Joey Bagga-donuts and his three buddies from Queens sitting behind me quit their sh** talking by early second half. Jumped up and down the whole game and that was by far the best live sports event I've ever experienced. I can imagine similar stories abound for Weber fans at their slew of NCAA apperances.....except that you guys have a major upset W to your record.

NAU's crowd rode Harold "The Show" Arceneaux hard but repsected his game.

Fond memories.
