Big Play VA for the Heisman??

We all know he's the favorite to win the Walter Payton award but at least one person thinks he could make it to New york! :thumb:

The realist part of me believes it won't happen. The FCS isn't considered a part of the D-1 world by most of the football world. It's excellent that somewhat brought up the discussion, though. If Vernon manages to hurdle some of the serious challenges ahead of him, he will definitely get some attention.

It's about as likely as me waking up tomorrow morning and finding a $10m lotto ticket underneath my pillow that the tooth fairy left for me, but still really cool that people are even bringing this into a discussion.

Edit - And I'm not saying he's not deserving of consideration. I just remember the uproar when McNair was a finalist back in the 90's.

Dare I ask what happened when old Steve was nominated?

1994. *Edit: Just realized you asked what, not when. Whoops.

Didn't Taiwan Jones make the Heismann watchlist to become a possible nominee? I thought I remembered a development like this.

I'll see your 10M and raise you 30 years shaved off the top  Years over $$$ every day.

On VA; would be a HUGE moment for the young man if he could hang in there and get a mention at the end of the year! Of course, Eagnation expects he will be in contention for the Walter Payton award and eventual winner. Heady stuff.

Good article. It will be terribly difficult for Vernon to stay in the discussion, but if he has a monster year who knows.

I don't like the pressure that puts on him since the Heisman voters will NEVER let that happen regardless of how deserving he might be.

Let's stop talking about it now!!

It will probably never happen. But on the other hand, VA has captured the attention of the national media. But I agree that he shouldn't be worried about this kinda stuff. Just get it done and everything else will fall into place.

Edwards did the same after defeating Michigan in the Big House. We have the Payton and the big boys have the Heisman, and that's the way it is. When was the last time a player from a non big 5 conference even got nominated?

Last year actually.
2013: Jordan Lynch, Northern Illinois
And three other times in last decade

2010: Kellen Moore, Boise State
2007: Colt Brenen, Hawaii
2004: Alex Smith, Utah (before they were in Pac 12)

Probably shouldn't play any games either or have a BigPlayVA website or do any interviews for local media or get out of bed .... that's a doozy dozy.

VA is focused on the game once he hits the field and has a lot of help around him. Not a one man show IMO.

Really?! Cause you know Vernon doesn't feel any pressure from the continuous hype?! I'm sure you would know.... :ohno:
