The season is breathing down our throats. I'm so glad that I'm getting my season tickets soon. Anyway, this season is going to be really tough, the Sky looks to be loaded with talent. This is my opinion, but I think that four or five teams could win the conference this year. Of course Weber is at the top of my list, but along with the Cats, UM, ISU, PSU, NAU, UNC, and MSU all could win the conference crown; also one never knows about EWU. One thing for sure...we all know that Sac isn't going to win it all, but that doesn't mean they are going to be a cake walk either.

This is purely my opinion...

1. Weber State... Far to much talent and Damian Lillard (even if Wayne and Huse keep callling Pac 10 schools trying to get them to recruit him, come on guys have a little class). Oh The WIZARD is our coach.

2. Idaho State... Senior laden and full of talent. Depends on whether or not they finally have a healthy PG all season and outside shooting.

3. Montana... AJ is good, yet WAYNE isn't. Talent alone can't win championships. Weber fans know this all to well after the Cravens experiment.

4. Northern Colorado.. Don't under-rate the bears they didn't lose much from a team that is improving drastically each year. For the Bears their big men are the keys to their success.

5. Portland State... Talent team, but NCAA sanctions and a new coach might be too much to over come, but I wouldn't be surprised if they finish at the top. Could be the most talented team.

6. Montana State... Losing Mbunga might be really hard to over come. However, proven team with a lot of talent, experience, and drive.

7. Northern Arizona... The Jacks still have Adras, with him as their coach they could still win it all. Never underestimate the Jacks.

8. Eastern Washington...This team is a wildcard they could be great or they could be awful. Talented but not deep.

9. Sacramento State... Katz is leading this team in the right direction. They are better and will win more games this year, but Katz isn't a miracle worker, give him a few more years and the Hornets might be humbling a few teams.

Big Sky RPI will definitely rise this season. The Sky is improving and becoming more and more competitive. I wouldn't doubt some big wins in the Sky this season.

Top 4 (in no order)
Weber State: The Wizard of Weber's a great coach and I don't know if anyone can stop Lillard. You gotta have us in the top 4 no matter what. Too much history and consistency. We made the conf tourney 24 yrs in a row until we didn't make it in 2006. The coach got the boot and now getting in this year will be 4 in a row.

Idaho State: tons of seniors, talented.

Montana: Anthony Johnson could be the conf MVP, UM always has a good team that can compete as well decent big men.

Portland State: No Dominguez, no Bone. They have a new coach but still bring back plenty of talent and enough to win the title. Shutting down Waters will be key as well they will need consistency and senior leadership from him. I believe he scored over 40 one game last year.

The unknowns
I think every team but Sac could make the conf tourney.

Eastern Washington: Big big men; potential player of the year in Benny V. I don't know why everyone including the poll voters think they aren't going to be good. I think they will make the conf tourney.

Montana State: They lost the best big man in the conference. He was the reason they schooled us in the semifinal last year. We couldn't do anything inside and then when we couldn't hit a 3 the game was over.

Northern Colorado: I can't make a guess but after just their 3rd year of DI they made the Big Sky tourney. That's a lot better than some of the other schools have done after making the move.

Northern Arizona: As Talhad mentioned they still have Adras, that alone is the reason they could be in the conf tourney. After last season though its understandable to pick them 7th or 8th.

Sacramento State: 9th place. I hope Sac's new coach can get things going soon. Looks like he's got a bunch of new players for the 2nd year.

This is my disclaimer: Any team, except possibly Sac St, could win the Sky this season. The teams are all stacked. Personally, I think it will come down to which team has the least injuries, most depth, is the toughest, and is the best coached. As for talent...each team has a couple of really good players.

The best players in the league, those who could end up as the MVP are: Damian Lillard, Benny Valentine, Anthony Johnson, Dominic Waters, and Ammorrow Morgan. Eric Rush and Cameron Johnson (I think NAU) are both possible contendors, and UNC's Devon Beitzel has a slight chance. UNC is going to be the most improved team...Boyle is a hell of a coach, and he is a great recruiter.
