I'll miss the Montana State game in 2014 and 2015...

OGDEN, UTAH (April 28, 2011) - The Big Sky Conference has released its football schedules for the 2012-2015 seasons, the first four that will feature a 13-team, one-division format.

All Big Sky teams will continue to play eight conference games with four at home and four on the road. Each team will have two “rivals” it will play each season. Over the course of the four years, each Big Sky team will play each other a minimum of two times.

Big Sky Conference athletic directors recently approved the schedules.

“We’re embarking on an exciting time in the Big Sky with expansion,’’ said conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. “We’ve created an eight-game conference schedule that still allows our institutions non-conference scheduling flexibility. The format keeps several strong rivalries intact, and will create new rivalries.’’

Glad to see that the Montana game is solidified. That is an important game to the program, whether it's being played in Cheney or Missoula.

No ISU in 2012? Maybe that's not a bad thing, though, as it may no longer be an automatic win by that time with Kramer at the helm. I guess I shouldn't say "automatic", but the last few games haven't exactly been competitive. I cannot remember the last time we have lost to them.

At least we only have to travel to UND once during this four year schedule. That was one of my main concerns with them being added.

2005, IIRC. :ohno:

I love that schools are able to schedule other conference schools for OOC games due to the lack of options out west. I think San Diego (non schollie) is the only non Big Sky FCS school out West now.

With the 8 game conference schedule, I'd bet we still play MSU in one or both of those years as we'll still need 3 OOC games, at least 1 or 2 of which will be FCS opponents. Due to the proximity and history I wouldn't be surprised to see a home and home with MSU in 2014 and 2015. Just makes sense.

Posted this over on Egriz already knowing what the reaction would be.

Some people will just never be happy with anything. Both of the schools UM is paired with are within 200 miles of Missoula. What else do you want?

Looks like 11/3/12 is a likely date for CP to have their return trip to Cheney for a non conference game. That guarantees us at least 5 home games in 2012.

Seems to me that would be a huge mistake as that late bye week if VERY valuable to get in shape for a playoff run.

That's a good point. It would be best to have that game being during the first 3 weeks of the season.

I noticed we both had that weekend off, but you're right, that's a great time to get healthy for the playoffs.
