Thanks, Mr. Wilson
We'd just like to take a minute to say thanks to Northern Arizona senior point guard Josh Wilson. Unfortunately, the end of Wilson's collegiate career was hampered by a broken foot. He's played in 116 games, three Big Sky Championship games, and will finish his career third on the Big Sky's all-time assists list. He scored more than 1,000 points, had an assist in 114 games, and was just a solid all-around player and student-athlete for four seasons.
We're please to tell you that Wilson will put on the uniform one more time and play in his 117th game on Saturday. The conference has agreed, with the approval of Sacramento State coach Brian Katz to allow Wilson to start Saturday's game against Sacramento State on Senior Night in Flagstaff. He will be removed from the game after the opening tip. He will appear on the court wearing a boot on his broken foot.
We think it's the right thing to do so that Wilson can receive one more ovation from his home fans. He won't get to score, or add one more assist. He's just making an appearance.
Wilson is one of just six seniors on Big Sky men's basketball rosters who can say they began and finished their careers at the same school. The others are Idaho State's Matt Stucki, Montana's Jordan Hasquet and Kyle Sharp, and Sacramento State's Randy Adams and Loren Leath.
Thanks to all of those seniors, as well as the rest of the seniors on Big Sky rosters.
