When will be the next one for Eastern??? Conference is getting tougher.
SUU no longer a gimme
Weber back to its reputation as playing tough football
Choate getting MSU back to being a contender
Bobby Hauck will revive the Grizzlies
Even Sac State had a winning record this season

I don't think SUU has ever been a gimme for us.
Sac State has never really challenged us aside from a few wins here and there. MSU's history against EWU hasn't been kind to them either...The years they've been really good, so we have we.
Montana will benefit for sure from Hauck, but is he capable of turning around a program or was his success at Montana due to an already strong program?

I guess we'll have Idaho starting next year, but when was the last time they even beat us? When they were still FCS?

Seems like we really were just one blown play by virtue of an offsides penalty from beating Weber and repeating as Big Sky champs. Not bad for what was one of the tougher in-conference schedules with a new coaching staff, a few of whom were still figuring out their jobs...

That’s a good question. I hope it’s soon, It’s tough seeing EWU get passed on for NAU! Even worse, what if Best can’t recruit :?

True, the head coach is the CEO of the team so he needs to prove he and his staff can recruit and the HC needs to motivate his staff to be the best they can be.
A commonly known phrase that applies to players and staff, People won't care how much you know until they know how much you care. will apply here as well.

Random fact, our 1999 game with Idaho was the last non-conference game we ever played at Albi. Good crowd at that one. Unfortunately, we played like dogshit.

ISU had the talent to beat Nevada. Davis made huge strides and ranked #3 in FCS total offense. The list goes on.

Both Weber and SUU graduate some key players. Sac and Davis are young and return a ton so watch out for the Hornets and Aggies. NAU has Cookus, Butler, Logan, and Young all back.

Ultimately this is good. We want the Big Sky to be strong. We'll compete for a title next year if we can do three things...

1). Get stops up the middle on D.

2). Pressure the QB.

3). Create separation at WR.

Those are all good, but Depth...Depth ..Depth on Defensive Line and Offensive line.

Best way to build depth is big leads and easy schedules (sorry Dopa, couldn't resist. ) These are hard to come by. The other way is through injuries which we did have a few of this year and our depth should benefit as a result. It would be nice to have several 300 lb DT's wouldn't it? Tough to do at this level.
