Big Sky Coach of the Year

If we pull off reg season champs does Rahe automatically get coach of the year? Does Boyle get the award regardless even if UNC finishes 2nd? What UNC has done is pretty amazing but if we win the conf what Rahe will/would have done also would be pretty spectacular.

Any thoughts?

IMHO Even if Weber does win the Big Sky, I think that Boyle will be the coach of the year. I think that he deserves it. We were picked to be the #1 team this year. By winning the 'Sky we have met expectations. UNC on the other hand was picked well below us, and last year had just a few wins in the conference. They have exceeded expectations by a LONG way. That is why I think that Boyle will get coach of the year.

Yeah I agree. So far I think Boyle definitely deserves the award, but it would be cool for Rahe to win another.

Randy Rahe will win the award if the Wildcats win the regular season title. It's true that WSU had high expectations to start the season, but if he lives up to those excpectaions then he deserves it. For sure Boyle is right behind Rahe. He has done a great job, but it comes down to who can lead a team to the Title, not OOC wins or a turn around season. If you think Boyle deserves it, you might as well throw Brian Katz into the mix. He has tripled their wins from last season! Haha

Going to be Boyle, unless they have a total meltdown in February. I agree with smjcpa here -Weber was expected to win and has. UNC is coming out of nowhere and thus you could argue (and correctly so) that Boyle has done something amazing in turning around a struggling program. Think of What Rahe did 4 years ago when he won the award for the first time. Boyle will and should win the award.
This does not mean Rahe is not deserving or not a great coach. It simply is a reflection of a great turn around story at UNC.

If Katz can get Sac to the tourny he will be a shoe in for the coach of the year. LOOOL... Not that I don't want Rahe to succeed, I just don't want him to leave. If he gets more and more noteriety he will get more notice... Boyle is a Hell of a coach. I'm sure Air Force is looking at him. Its nice knowing that a lot of western programs are going to be keeping their coaches.
