Looks like there will be some changes. Guessing three maybe four programs might have new coaches next year. Also, always be ready for a shocking change.

My guesses:
Idaho: Verlin is shown the door
Idaho State: Evans retires?
Montana State: Fish contract not renewed
Montana: Decuire goes to greener pastures
Northern Colorado: Linder gets a promotion?

Northern Colorado has been talking about dropping back into D11. They have some major financial problems.

Serious? Wow!! That would be incredible. I don't think it will ultimately happen, but it just shows the pressure mid-major and low-major programs are putting themselves through to compete. If UNCO were to drop down, big if, would the Sky replace them? I think we are going to see some serious movement between conferences in the next few years. I was called crazy by a friend a while back when I told him about my MW theory. Here in the West a lot depends on Gonzaga. If they elect to leave the WCC for the MW, that will cause some tectonic movement in the lower conferences and might spell the end to the WAC.

Remember, the point of all the teams making the tournament was so that coaches would longer lose their jobs.

dont forget cbi, cit, las vegas 16, some others i forgot. the goal is for all programs to get to 20

Decuire signs extension
This year may well have been his best chance to move up. UM will be good next year, but probably not as good as this year. His window may be closing.

You of all people olds, I wouldnt expect this from. Why might his window be closing? Has he taken UM as far as he's capable of? This seems like where we were 10 years ago as WSU...

I wasn't speaking of his ability as a coach, he's a good coach, I was talking of his chances of moving to his dream job, Cal. He has been passed over, by them, for their past three hires. He has turned down some other schools that may have been a stepping stone to Cal. UM wants him to stay there for ever, but he wants to be the head coach at Cal. He may still yet get promoted to Cal, but the window of opportunity for him is closing slowly, and it doesn't make it easier being in a rebuilding process.

We will NOT be rebuilding next year. It is a reload year, not a rebuild year. We have 2 transfers who will be eligible, one of the best incoming freshman classes we’ve had in a while, and a All Big Sky 1st teamer returning in Sayeed Pridgett to go with a co-newcomer or the year and top reserve in Kendal Manuel. We will still be a top 3 or 4 team next year.

We are not in disagreement with one another, UofM, just semantics. UM will certainly be a top program again next year. As good as this past year's team? Probably not, but a good team.

True, but I’m not so sure Cal is Decuire’s goal anymore. In an interview at the end of the year, he said he dreamed of creating a winning culture, and he wanted to stick it through. Yes, he may have interviewed for the job the past 2 times, but I think his views have changed.

My feelings are that it is best for the BSC and UM if your coach sticks around for a while. I think you may be right. He may have shut the door to Cal. now that he has been passed over multiple times. However, it may make him less likely to dismiss some of these other schools so easily, when they come calling, as they have in the past. Can you imagine if he took another job in the PAC# and then kicked the crap out of Cal. each time they played. Sweet revenge.

cal already hired mark fox who once coached nevada for many yrs. griz extending travis ensures griz will rock in the near future with a guarantee. i predict next season griz will be at least in the top 1.

If Cal offered Decuire the job, you better believe he would have left Missoula in a heartbeat. No coach turns down a PAC-12 offer to stay in the Big Sky. I don't care what he said in an interview with a local newspaper, that is called coach speak, he would have taken the job if Cal wanted him.

It doesn't feel like things are going well up at ISU. Most available players are deciding where they will be playing next year and the majority will have made up their minds by next Wednesday. ISU has players sitting on the fence, waiting to stay or transfer. ISU has not made a hire as of this writing. It feels like their top choices have looked at what they have to offer and have pulled out. They may be scrambling right now and that is never good.

I hope they find someone willing to take that mess on. :wall:
