Big Congratulations Boys - Nice Accomplishment !
This is genuine proof of your dedication to excellence in the classroom and on the field.
It is even more impressive that you could focus on what is truly important especially during such a turbulant season.
We are very proud of you all and wish you continued success in your academic careers.
Go Hornets!

Congratulations players and support staff! These quality young men have taken care of business and done it right. The entire Sac State community should recognize and take pride in the type of student athletes that we have representing us.

On a related note : Montana still leads the Big Sky Fall All-Felon Football Team!

I like that we had reps from each class, particularly the freshperson class. Some kids find the transition from HS to college hard, and that's not just in terms of the speed of the game. Class work can be harder, too. I'm impressed!

I thought I read somewhere that if a team falls below a minimum collective GPA, it effects the amount of scholarship dollars availiable. Is that true?

Yes, I think the NCAA sets minimum GPA requirements for each sport over a time span of 4 or 5 years (referred to as the APR). If they are not met, NCAA sanctions are issued which can range anywhere from practice time lost to a reduction of scholarships, post season bans and whatever else the NCAA “feels” is necessary to get a programs academics cleaned up.

Ideally GPA’s and sanctions should be taken care of internally and a competent support staff would never let a program get out of hand. Credit is due to the support staff and coaches for keeping this on the up and up lately.

That is one thing the Sperbeck regiment has been very good at. If you you remember when he first came in we were under all kinds of NCAA probation's. But he really turned it around in that regard.
