Big Sky Kills Friday-Saturday Basketball

Each time they've tried this, they've killed it one year later. What's that definition of insanity?

Actually, Ithink one thing the Big Sky has right is the way its conference tournament is currently set up. While it would be good to have the final four on a weekend, I like the idea of the 3-6 teams playing for a home court advantage, and the 1-2 guys playing for byes. It makes for a lot more meaningful games at the end of the regular season. And let's face it, NOBODY goes to the 3-6, 4-5 games when they're played at the site of the No. 1 team.

i guess i was the only one that loved the games on back to back nights. it was nice going to games 2 days in a row as well i think the fridays got better attendance than thursdays ever have.

but ya i do realize the players/coaches/media didnt like it so much.

but i think teams that are well coached/disciplined benefited from the games on fri/sat compared to those those that weren't.

so will we see attendance drop in 2011 or can we hope it will still increase...

I'm not trying to say we should only play on Fridays but here's an observation I've noticed...

2010 attendance on Fridays
Game 8: Jan 22 Portland State*: 6,011 (Friday)
Game 10: Jan 29 Sacramento State*: 5,118 (Friday)
Game 11: Feb 12 Northern Arizona*: 5,791 (Friday)

2009 attendance on Thursdays
Game 6 - MSU: 3,226 (Thursday)
Game 9 - EWU: 4,881 (Thursday)
Game 11 - NAU: 4,237 (Thursday)
