I know we are a little bit past midseason in Big Sky play, but I've been giving some serious thought as to who might take home the awards this season. Here's what I've got so far. I'm ready to defend any objections or explain some of my picks if there are any questions.

MVP: Damian Lillard, G, Weber State
Defensive Player of Year: Will Cherry, G, Montana
Freshman of Year (tie): James Douglas, G, Northern Arizona/Dylan Garrity, G, Sacramento State
Newcomer of Year: Collin Chiverton, F, Eastern Washington
Coach of Year: Randy Rahe, Weber State

1ST TEAM:
Damian Lillard, G, Weber State
Scott Bamforth, G, Weber State
Will Cherry, G, Montana
Charles Odum, G, Portland State
Chehales Tapscott, F, Portland State
Chase Grabau, F, Idaho State

2ND TEAM:
Collin Chiverton, F, Eastern Washington
Cliff Colimon, G, Eastern Washington
Kareem Jamar, F, Montana
Christian Moon, G, Montana State
Xavier Blount, G, Montana State
John Dickson, F, Sacramento State

HONORABLE MENTION:
Kenny McGowan, G, Idaho State
Kyle Tresnak, C, Weber State
James Douglas, G, Northern Arizona
Cliff Ederaine, F, Eastern Washington
Derek Selvig, C, Montana
Mike Proctor, F, Northern Colorado
Dylan Garrity, G, Sacramento State
Stallon Saldivar, G, Northern Arizona
Melvin Morgan, G, Idaho State

Looks pretty good to me, but I would move Jamar to the 1st team in place of Odum, mostly because PSU is not deserving of two 1st teamers and UM is.

any think martin get coach of the year if the taters finish with a winning record? 9-7 they were 2-10 in OOC, i thikn 2-8 when he took over.

the last 2 coaches of the yr that didnt win the regular season title were MSU in 2005 and EWU in 2000. so this says who ever hosts gets the coach award.

I agree Jamar is a better player and he plays for a better team.

I've always hated the argument that you have to play for a good team to win an 'individual' honor, but I do agree to a certain extent. Jamar and Chiverton both make good arguments to be first-teamers, as well. Beyond Dame, Bamforth, Cherry, Tapscott and Grabau, it was hard to decide. Kind of hard to argue with 18 points per game, though, even if it does look strange to see two PSU guys on the first team.

Looks good to me. Except I think Kenny McGowen will be on the 2nd team instead of two Bobcats. Also, I don't know if Grabau is necessarily a lock for the 1st team.

I'm starting to agree with you, especially since Idaho State has faded in its past few games and Grabau hasn't even been playing.
