Big Sky play begins now-Who wins conference?

Each team has played two non-conference games except NAU, so based on what we've seen/read/heard, who do you think will win the Big Sky? And, what's your prediction now for the Hornets?

I'm picking Weber State to win it outright this season.

I think Sac State finishes 4-4.

I, too, think Weber State wins all the marbles this season. They have looked very impressive in non-conference play so far. Of course, until someone else can prove otherwise, it might still be the Grizzlies' conference to lose. They just seem to find ways to win. My Bobcats, at the very best, can go 5-3. But realistically, they just don't have the horses this season and I see a 4-4 more likely in their future.

I'm not sure why so many people give PSU so much credit, over the last couple of years they haven't been any better than the Hornets. Now that Mouse Davis is gone I think we will finish ahead of them - I also think EWU is given to much hype.

1. Weber St. (L)
2. Montana (L)
3. Montana St. (L)
4. NAU (W)
5. Sac (4-4)
6. EWU (W)
7. UNC (L)
8. Portland St. (W)
9. ISU (W)

This may be the myopian in me talking, but I still think we can get it together in time to win conference. I still think ISU and UNC are gimmies. NAU, PSU, MSU, and EWU are probable Sac wins. The two most strenuous conference games are likely to be Weber and the Griz, and I think we CAN win those. And I'm still hoping for a Causeway win. In any event, I think we'll be in the upper division this year. And the playoffs (yes, it's WAY early) are a cr@pshoot if we get in.

And, yes, the pessimistic possibilities are there if we DON'T get our heads out of our rears. I, for one, however, am optimistic enough to see us playing in Chatty by the end of the year. Call me cr@zy, but that's what I believe.

SH, we all know you are crazy, but I love the optimism. I think UNC is pretty improved and is not a gimme anymore. Not that it really has been for us if you recall. All the others will be tough games. I'm just going to enjoy the season one game at a time. I believe we will compete hard, but won't make the playoffs this year without some amazing luck.

I predict the following:

UM
WSU
SAC
MSU
EWU
NAU
ISU
UNC
PSU

I think UM will win it since WSU is playing at UM. I also think that if we beat EWU, we will end up 3rd. EWU is going to be huge because if we win we have 2 easier weeks before WSU.

Okay, crazy.

WSU- really tough- may run the table
UM- Come On, U of Cow Dung almost rang their bell-this was close
NAU-Lays the wood to the backside of a bear
EWU-
SAC
MSU
UNC- surprise a few teams this year
ISU-OK this is gimme vote for taking on OU
PSU-Jerry "Not For Long" Glanville leads this team like the Falcons and gets the same result-run out of town probably ends up DIII level

I think I’m going to stick with my original prediction for the Hornets of a 5-3 Big sky Finish. The losses will be UM, WSU, and MSU. All else will be wins. I believe this upcoming game is going to define the way the season goes, and they will start it this weekend with a triumph over EWU. The win will get the Hornets going. 8-)

As far as the rest of the conference goes, it will be either UM or WSU taking the conference crown. I had MSU 3rd but their lack of offense has me questioning whether they will finish that strong. Right now NAU looks impressive and if they can keep their level of offensive play up, and buckle down more on defense, they will be a scary team. EWU looks scary on paper, but they haven’t seemed to get everything going yet, and I hope they don’t get it going this weekend. PSU looks like any other typical PSU team, an offense that can score, and a defense that can’t stop anyone from scoring. ISU is ISU, having said that, there is no excuse for the Hornets losing to them in 3 weeks. UNC is a question mark. I read on a few other sites that they have a bit of an injury bug. However this team has nowhere to go but up. I think it will be a tough game for the Hornets as they will have to find a way to pull off a win in Greeley.

Now that we are mostly through the conference, looks to me like Old Hornet has been closest so far, missing EWU, with UNC and MSU to go.

I only missed the EWU game as far as conference predictions go. ;)
