Big Sky Quarterfinals

Hey all,

Wrote up a post and preview of the quarterfinal matchup with Idaho State, take a look if you are interested! http://www.bigskybball.com/2012/03/idaho-state-eastern-washington.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I like EWU to win this one based on their superior depth (Parker Kelly always seems like he is good to hit a big shot), and their frontcourt ability. I am not sure ISU can match up with Ederaine/Griffin/Johnson.

I am guessing you guys saw the last two games between these teams a little bit closer than I did... what do you think are the keys to the game?

As I see it, there are two big keys to the game. Number one, actually throw the ball to our front line guys once in a while as opposed to seeing how many 3's we can launch. And number two, NOT playing Chiverton many minutes. Call it chemistry...call it unselfishness...call it willingness to actually guard somebody or try to get a rebound...call it whatever you'd like, but we are a better TEAM when he is not on the floor. And I'm sick of hearing and reading about it being physical because it isnt. It is poor attitude, lack of toughness, poor coachability, being a bad teammate...what are commonly referred to as intangibles that are the problem. There is a very good reason he is at his 4th school in 4 years, and an even better reason that he was available late to a lower-level Big Sky school in spite of his talent, skill level, size, and athletic ability. He was worth taking a chance on, but given his past track record, certainly not worth counting on.

Its tough to beat a team 3x per year, especially in less than two weeks.
The Eagles have beat MSU 2x. and Idaho 2x
PSU beat us and ISU 2x.
Montana has taken down everyone except Weber 2x
Weber beat everyone but ISU and UM 2x
Thats what upsets are made of, it will be interesting.

Looking forward to a great game tomorrow. It is definitely tough to beat any team 3 times in one season, but I don't think we will have any issues tomorrow. We dominated ISU on tuesday and we are at home. I think the Eags keep it rolling and win going away, Vegas will probably have them as 10 point favorites.

The team does seem to be coming along better. I'm not sure about Chiverton, I saw him go down against ISU and then come back and he was really hurting, I think it is a combination of several things as to why he is not playing as much, but I think a big one is injury. Ever have a back injury and try to shoot a basketball? It just doesnt work.

Congrats to Big Cliff, Little Cliff, and Chiverton for their big sky awards yesterday. Well deserved.

These guys definitely have the ability to make a run, put together another good performance tomorrow and you just never know in the semi's, Weber and the Griz are good, but they are definitely beatable.
