Big Sky Sucks

I know that the Big Sky mandates start time for conference games. The result is that just about every conference game is an afternoon game.
I think this sucks because attendance for afternoon games is ALWAYS lower compared to night games. Why does the Sky mandate afternoon games? Why not allow host teams to determine when they will start games?

Every other FCS conference plays Sat afternoon games. It gives the BSC Sat relevance as far as exposure goes. I don't think WaGiz stadium has lights. That's probably the real reason.

The MSU @ Sac State game was suppose to be a 6:05 kick-off but was moved to a 1:05 start. I think it had a major impact on attendance as it was a warm day most likely resulted in less people coming out to the game. I heard the game was moved due to a TV issue. Either way I agree, each individual school should have the power to set their own start time that is most beneficial for drawing larger crowds.

The MSU game last year in the afternoon had like 9,000 or 10,000 didn't it? I think they announced less, but it was a good turnout.

The Big Sky does allow each team to set its own starting times, unless television is involved. Idaho State made the decision a couple of years ago to go from 6 p.m. starts to 3:35 p.m., to appease the local restaraunts and watering holes who wanted a longer Saturday "night" for their patrons.

Bengal Visitor

I have heard from multiple sources that the Big Sky does dictate start time for conference games. Which is it?
Big sky mandated or school choice?
If it is school choice, Weber would be wise to have all games in August, September, and October to be night games.
All November games should be day games.

My understanding it is up to each school to decide when to play its home games -- unless television is involved, then the league dictates. In my 30 years as a Bengal fan, we have changed home game times from 7:30 to 6 p.m. and now to 3:35 p.m. Never has the league played in a role in those decisions. (We also used to change the homecoming game from evening to afternoon -- and that was always an ISU decision).

OK - if the Big Sky allows schools to choose their start times, then I will change the title of my post to:
WSU AD Department Sucks!

Yeah, Weber definitely is in charge of their own game times.

I think Bovee was considering a 8pm start time for the Eastern game, because of Conference. I don't know why he didn't. Kinda a dumb if you ask me. I'm sure it was because the game was on Altitude.
