Big Sky Tournament... in Vegas?

One of the agenda items during the Big Sky meetings in May will be a discussion about moving the Big Sky basketball tournament to a pre-determined site. Even though the current system is designed to allow the best team to make it into the NCAA tourney, many coaches and athletic departments would like to see a pre-determined site (to save money, among other things).

The Missoulian has a couple of good stories regarding the subject, and the South Point Hotel and Casino might make a move to attract the tournament to its arena...

Having just gone through a tournament in Vegas (the Mountain West has been there for many years, not a new thing like that article implied), I can tell you that the South Point is a great hotel for fans to be at and for the tournament. Good restaurants (Steak and Shake!) a bowling alley, movie theater, nice casino, and it's off the strip, but just a 10 minute cab ride to the Luxor and that end of the strip. The conference needs to do this...remember on the women's side no one knew if they were going to Portland or Greeley until the ISU game ended.

I know Jason Erickson, formerly of ISU and now of the WAC, loved having the tournament in Vegas.
