My prediction given we still have a few weeks left.

bye:
1. wsu
2. um

QF:
6. msu @ 3. psu
5. unc @ 4. isu

I put msu at 6th and unc at 5th assuming they tie and unc gets a tie breaker if they win their final game of the season against msu.

SF:
4. isu vs 1. wsu
3. psu vs 2. um

C:
1. wsu vs 3. psu

The best UNC could do is go 8-8, MSU 9-7, ISU 9-7, EWU 7-9, and NAU 7-9 (a loss to the Cats tomorrow will effectively knock them out of the tourny). UM and PSU could still switch places... No matter, I think PSU and UM will play each other in the first semi-final on the 10th. I could see Weber playing ISU, MSU, or UNC. Like Catcat, I'd love to see another Weber State vs. Idaho State game.

Your supposed to tell us your own predictions of the tourney...

My predictions are mostly like yours, except for the final, which i think will be Weber vs UM. My reasons:

1. UM doesnt have to travel as far, and that will lead to more fans for UM than PSU. ( Grizzly fans are not affraid to travel, just ask the football team).

2. Also I have the feeling that more Weber fans will pull for the Grizzlies over the Vikings. so it would almost appear to be a home game for the Griz.

3. ( And the Biggest Reason of them All ) As talented as PSU's shooters are, they have proved that they do have off nights, and they will end up dying by the 3 pointer, they have only been really effective at home at hitting their 3s, only once did they do it on the road vs Gonzaga. Lack of inside presence has hurt PSU especially on the road. Montana has more a team game, granted AJ does do most of their scoring, they have shown that when they play good team ball, they are good. I will give the edge to UM because I think Portland will not hit their 3s ( not all of them at least ) in the semi final game.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict that UNC beats UM tonight, which puts PSU and UM tied for 2nd when PSU beats EWU. When I tried to figure out how the tie-breaker will work if that happens, all I came up with was a migraine.

Can anybody help? If PSU and UM end up tied, who gets the 2nd seed and the bye, and who gets 3rd and hosts a game on the 7th? Or are we just better off actually being patient and seeing how this thing plays out?

But I wanna know NOW!!!!

Wildfan,

MONTANA (11-4)
Montana has clinched a tournament bid. Montana will finish either second or third. Montana will be second with one Portland State loss. If Montana and Portland State both finish 11-5, Montana will gain the No. 2 seed if any team other than Northern Colorado finishes fourth. Montana’s final regular-season game is Thursday at Northern Colorado.
To finish second
Win over UNC OR one PSU loss to either MSU or EWU
Loss to UNC and two PSU wins IF MSU defeats UNC (that would ensure that MSU would finish ahead of UNC in the standings)

PORTLAND STATE (10-5)
Portland State has clinched a bid. Portland State can finish only 2nd or 3rd. The Vikings play at Eastern Washington on Saturday.
To finish second
Win over EWU AND UM loss to UNC AND UNC win over MSU (only way to do it)

catcat - you are going to have change this prediction. My Bobcats will not make the tournament. We are bleeding - no, wait, scratch that - hemorrhaging right now and there will be no way to stop it. Our only chance right now is to have PSU beat EWU Saturday night, because I am telling you right here that MSU will lose our final two games (UNC on Sunday and Weber next Tuesday), and finish at 6-10. If EWU loses to PSU, we would both be 6-10, and the Bobcats would get the nod I think because we split with EWU and hold a victory over you guys. But with the Bobcats' luck, EWU will probably topple PSU and nab the sixth seed, leaving MSU at home. In the event we do happen to back into the tourney, there will be no need to worry about us as we will be on a 5 game losing streak, and MSU has not won a BSC tourney game in 10 years (our last W was in 1999 over Cal State Northridge). Yes, you can all start pointing your fingers and laughing at us now.

What's the big problems with MSU? They looked pretty good down here in Ogden

Very young team with absolutely no leadership and no inside game. We only have one senior (Mbunga) and all our guards are new to the team this year. So nobody has yet to stand up and claim this team as his. When the going gets tough, they tend to play as five individuals rather than one team. Some Cat fans are beginning to question our coaching (Coach Huse is in his third year and we really haven't seen anything that resembles progress). I believe the staff needs another 2-3 years to see if we can get this thing turned around.

I mention the interior game because many of the teams in the conference are very good in the paint. Our big man (who isn't very big - Mbunga) has just not played to his potential this season. He's missed a lot of easy shots, gets out-hustled and out-rebounded, and now it appears as though our guards don't have any confidence in him as they are not passing to him whatsoever. We have plenty of problems right now and just not enough time to fix them. But hey - it's typical Bobcat basketball - end the season on multi-game losing streak after initially appearing to have some promise. Believe me, many Bobcat fans know the routine oh too well.

I am really scared of Portland in the tourney -- NOT!! Portland has lost its last 4 road games. Great record. Especially after H20 guaranteed that they would NOT lose another game after the first loss to WEBER. We will have to see if the road loosing streak continues on Saturday night @ Eastern. I would say good luck, but I hope that Eastern wins.

Attention All:

The "H2O guarantee" still applies if we play PSU in the big sky tourney...it is still this season and he did guarantee a win in Ogden.

The student section will give Waters their best

This is Weber State’s 18th Big Sky Conference REGULAR SEASON title. The Wildcats have also won EIGHT Big Sky Conference Post-Season Tournament titles. ... It marks the second time in the last three seasons, the third time in last seven seasons, and the fourth time in the last 11 seasons the Wildcats have the regular season title. In each case, the Wildcat have gone on to win the post-season tournament as well. . . . The WSU FOOTBALL team won the 2008 Big Sky title and the BASKETBALL team has won the 2008-09 regular season title. That marks the first time since the 1968-69 season (40 years) that both teams have captured league titles in the same season. It also happened in 1965-66 as well.
