Big Sky Transfers

It seems the number of transfers is up this year; Tucker and Sweeney from PSU, Miljkovic at EWU, Wiggs at UI, Nwosu at Montana, Brown, Frenchwood, Green, and Fisher from MSU, Shields and Coleman from UND, Frid at NAU, Tucker at UNC, Waddoups at SUU, and Johnson-Coston and Golden from Weber. That's 10 out of 12 BSC schools with transfers (ISU and Sac are the only schools without at least 1 transfer). It is nice to see that we have no transfers but it just seems like transferring is getting a bit out of control (not just the BSC). Either coaches aren't doing a good job of evaluating not only basketball talent but the compatibility of the student athlete to the institution or the kids just think the grass is greener elsewhere. I suspect a combination but I hear more and more about "councelling out" which I interpret as meaning the coach tells the player "You aren't going to get any minutes so you better pack your bags". What do you all think about this??

I think it’s crazy, but I have no problem with it. Coaches leave for better opportunities all the time so I have no problem with student-athletes doing the same. All these players have to sit a year if they stay D1 and hopefully the NCAA doesn’t change this or else it would be complete bedlam. I also don’t have a problem with coaches “cutting” players. They are adults now, welcome to life.

EWU losing Harvey to the NBA and now Miljkovic is huge. They only starter they have returning is Jois (although Washington returns for them). I think their chances at contending for the BSC crown have significantly diminished.

PSU losing Tucker is HUGE. They were a completely different team without him, I think they will struggle quite a bit next season since their shooters have also graduated.

Also looks like ISU lost Ian Fox, so they have a transfer too.

Assuming no one from Sac leaves, if the Hornets see modest improvement from the returners and have a guard step up alongside Demps I think the Hornets will have an interesting season.
