Big Sky - transfers

Emmanuel Addo, 6-8, F, Jr., Northern Colorado (can play immediately)
Bryce Douvier, 6-6, F, Soph., Northern Colorado
Nick Mason, 6-1, G, Jr., Idaho State

Marvin Jean, 6-4, G. Jr., Utah State
Matt Lopez, 6-11, C, Soph., Utah State
Justin Seymour, 6-3, G, Fr., Utah

I think we have seen this one coming. Wayne is a good kid, a very good athlete, and a decent player. He is just not as good as he thinks he is. He will make a sensational D2 or lower player. I don't think he could start on any BSC teams, not even ISU. As for the others.... ehhh. The only one that might hurt a little is Garnica leaving UNC. Makes you wonder what is going on over there with those cubbies. :coffee:

I don't mind Bradford leaving because he won't get playing time next year either.

I agree, we all kind of saw this coming. Wayne seems like a good kid and he was a great teammate. He was always cheering on the guys which is great to see from the bench. I hope he lands in a good situation for him and can make a difference on his new team.

Now with Wayne leaving, does his scholarship go to Fuller or is there another player coming in that we don't know about? Also are there going to be others transferring? I hope not. I like all the players we have coming back. Where does Zaid fit into the team next year? Is he the first guard off the bench or will that go to Senglin? Is Wheelright for sure going to start at the SG next year? Will Hill contribute next year? Will Fulton be in the rotation? Im seriously having Weber hoop withdraws. ha ha. I wish I had one of those remotes from the movie CLICK so I can fast forward to the purple and white game. These next 6 months better fly by.

Looking at the roster now here is the 13 scholarship players we have for next year.
1. Richardson SR.
2. Wheelright JR.
3. Berry SR
4. Bolomboy SO.
5. Tresnak SR.
6. Fulton SR.
7. Hajak JR.
8. Williams JR.
9. Zaid JR.
10. Fuller FR.
11. Hill FR.
12. Senglin FR.
13. Gittens FR.

I am sure that there will be more to come. It is early in the process and the spring signing won't be over for a week or two. Most of the players who transfer have simply discovered that they can't play at the level they were recruited to. It can also be a style of play or personality issue. When a starter leaves a school, it raises all kinds of questions. That's why I question what is happening at UNC. :yikes:

None of those three were starters at UNC this season. Garnica and Addo were the first two off the bench, and there minutes were down from the prior year. Looks like a playing time issue. Although BJ doesn't appear to me to be a coach that would be real popular with his players.

To put it into perspective, Garnica and Addo leaving UNC would be like Wheelright and Bolomboy leaving WSU. I think that it is quite significant. Maybe UNC has recruited players who are better than they were. I don't know. However, to me, it raises a lot of questions. Is it a player issue, a coaches issue, or is it a school issue. I know that community support and facilities is a huge issue there. They really need to upgrade their program. :twocents:

Wade Collie, 6-6, G, Jr., Southern Utah
Zach Ghormley, 6-4, G, Fr., Southern Utah

Collie was a part time starter and the team's 4th leading scorer. He was also arrested for selling marijuana. SUU loses their top 4 scorers and 5 seniors, including Stevenett and Heuir. SUU will be terrible next season.

It was just a matter of playing time for those guys. Garnica saw the writing on the wall for next season. We have a 3 star pg from LA coming in, as well as a newly signed JC guard from Casper College. Svihovic will now be playing his natural position of shooting guard. He's playing playing pg, but that's not his gifted position. Some say Manny left because he's heading towards his MA degree and UNC doesn't offer what he wanted, but some say it was playing time.

We've also replaced two coaches. We hired the head coach from Casper College and also hired South Dakota States top assistant.

Hope it all works out for you, BearDown. It looks like a package deal with Casper College's coach and player. Sounds like the coach was his agent, and included his own job in the deal. It also looks like your coach is feeling the pressure to produce sooner than later. JC kids can be a quick fix or an insurance policy in the case where an incoming freshman may not be ready right out of the gate. Even the very best JC kids seem to take a while to adjust to the next level of play.

Some of our best JC kids, over the years, have been much better in their second year than the first. The exception to that is when they have had the luxury of sitting out a year before playing.

It's getting harder to find good JC players. The good ones are getting heavy recruiting pressure these days. You have to get a little bit lucky to get a good one. :coffee:

Jordan Wilson isn't a bad looking player. He is a solid get for the cubbies. Recruiting isn't the issue with UNCO it is foundational. Maybe it isn't BJ and he needed better assistants. From what I could tell, this issue was chemistry. The team doesn't play well together and they allowed their youth to impact their potential. No leadership, sub-par coaching, and worst of all no chemistry. That is what dooms the Cubbies. I thought I was watching another Huse coached team in Greeley.

As for Casper College [email protected] had a good year last year and had some talent. It isn't a terrible thing getting a coach along with his players. Same thing happened at Weber when Rahe was first hired. Linder brought Davis and Arturus from Midland with him.

AS for Svihovic he will stay at the 1. You don't have a guy play the 1 for two years and then move him back to the 2. Also, is Tate Unruh, one of the best shooters in the nation suddenly going to be sitting the bench? Wilson is probably a red shirt guy, which isn't a bad thing...why I say that is that BJ signed a guy JC guy who can play the PG and back up Svihovic. Also, a 2 still needs to be able to handle the rock, which is Svihovic's issue.

I agree 100 percent that it wasn't talent or recruiting, it has been chemistry and leadership (lack of). We will see how things play out.

I really don't understand this lack of chemistry thing. The core of the UNC players have been together for a while. They have had plenty of time to get acquainted, learn to like each other, learn each other's moves, and develop some of that elusive chemistry. Leaders should emerge. It really could be a talent and recruiting issue. Hopefully, you got rid of the malcontents and brought in some guys with a little spunk and desire to be a good team mate and student of the game. You need a few glue guys, who are willing to do the little mundane things that are needed to make a team successful. :thumb:

Here at WSU, Randy has sent highly talented players home due to attitude and a lack of willingness to put the team first. Stars and leaders will still emerge, they just have to give it up for the team first. :twocents:
