Big Sky: Who is the dominant team this yr?

I think right now, it is a tie between Weber and Montana State. Both have beaten teams they should have and both have lost to FBS teams. Head to head competition will clarify this question.

The real question for me is what can we expect this Saturday? Will Weber see a team that is demoralized and ready to give up on the year? 4 straight losses and 0-2 in conference play could make them discouraged and thinking there is nothing left to play for.
Or, will EWU come out desperate and mean as %#*! :pissed:

An 0-4 team is a dangerous team; I say we go in, take control of our first series, pound it down their throats and don't let up until the final whistle. Looking forward to a great game on the 'tomato-bisque' field.

Also, it is the 'Return of The Beast', so this will make it even more special :-D

Weber State is #1 in the BSC in both total offense and scoring offense, and I think we have the best all 'round quarterback in the conference in Mike Hoke - great decision-making AND stats. Did I mention great decision-making?

Montana State is #1 in both total defense and scoring defense. MSU also has the best place kicker in the FCS in Jason Cunningham.

I HOPE we continue to lead in offense and improve on defense. I EXPECT expect these two teams to be in roughly the same positions when we host the Bobcats on November 5th, but there are LOTS of traps out there for the Wildcats. Now that we are no longer a sleeper team, we have a big target on our chests.

But you are exactly right, Waldo: The real question EVERY WEEK is whether we are physically and mentally prepared for THIS WEEK's opponent. From week to week, I think Cam was too easily distracted for the past couple of years, but it appears that Hoke possesses higher levels of judgement and maturity. I sure hope I am correct.

The numbers don't lie about Mike HOKE...4 games and 0, did I say ZERO....interceptions. Wyoming we should have won, USU had a cow up their butts in the 2nd half, and the other 2 were victories. Really, and it is not a far stretch of any imagination, we should be 3-1 right now. Offense has too many weapons, and the D is getting better. Injuries here and there, but you adjust and attack!

I expect the Wildcat offense to remain tops in the conference and for the defense to steadily improve.

At this point, a perfect record for the rest of the regular season and a top 4 seed for the playoffs is not too much to hope for.

I think EWU has a LOT to play for. Tank the rest of the season and play for a high 1st round lottery pick.     :rimshot:

A wounded animal can always be a dangerous animal.

...which makes me all the more grateful for the demonstrated maturity and leadership of Mike HOKE. I get the impression that he will take nothing for granted, maintain a steady strain without overconfidence or panic, and prepare for every game thoughtfully and professionally.

There are still a lot of games to play yet. I am not ready to call us a front runner. We need to take care of business up on Rose Petal feild. After the way this game went last year, we have a lot to prove. I don't really want to talk about any games after this one, because this one is the only one that can make this week a winning week. Last week was grerat, but its over with. Anything after this weeks game will still be there, with either hightened or dimminished import. I want to see the WSU team that we saw in the second half of the UNC game.

In two conference games, WSU is #1 in average points allowed and #1 in average points scored. Weber State currently sits alone atop Big Sky conference standings at 2-0.

Like it or not, we are, by definition, the front runners. We have a target onour chest, and each week must maintain the high performance standards set so far to stay atop the conference.

Second half?!!!?!? We were up 35-0 at the end of the first half in Greeley.

I would like to see some resemblance of our first half of UNC game in Cheney.

I didn't get to see that first half in Geeley. The second half against Suc was total dominance. We, easily, could have scored a few more TD's, but chose to coast into the finish. There was no question who was top dog in that fight.

Why aren't we talking about UNCO? I thought because of their new coach that they were going to be the best team ever. Oh wait...thats right, I predicted that the Cubs would go 0-11. I'm holding to that to.

All kidding and smack talk aside. I really think that Weber is one of the top teams in the Sky. Are they elite? Well, we will see on Saturday. Gotta be honest, this game is huge for Weber. I'm really worried about it. Before the season started, I really thought that Weber winning in Cheney would take an enormous miracle for it to happen.

MSU is looking really solid...I didn't think their D would be as good as it is turning out to be. Their secondary is still suspect, but as long as they are putting pressure on the opposing teams QB, they can limit the pass. They are great at stuffing the run. UM...they can be beat. They aren't the team they use to be. SAC we already beat. PSU and NAU...both looking dangerous. ISU...hmmm...get the ball and run the entire game. Keep their offense off the field. that is what NAU proved. But you've got to hand it to Kramer, the Bengals are looking a lot better.

I agree, I also thought that the game in Cheney would be critical but for different reasons than now. I thought that it would be pivotal for the Big Sky Championship and they are also the defending national champs. Not to take anything away from their title, but if there were ever a Cinderella story and someone getting ALL the breaks, it would have been EWU last year. Nuf sed, we just have to go in there, win convincingly, and get out of there. Rest up with the bye week and then unleash for the rest of the season.

EWU is beat up horribly, I think they have 2 remaining starters on the OL, Kaufman has a "broken hand" but may be able to play (don't know what that means) lost a couple of more, one of the johns twins is out. EWU cant stop the run to save themselves. I think WSU will win this. that all said I consider WSU my second favorite BSC team but I have to cheer for EWU this week because I would feel a lot better if you guys have a conference loss before November

Right now looking at it I think the BSC title will be determined on November 5th :thumb:
