Big win for Bengal women

Sai Tapasa had a double-double (17 points and 13 boards) and Brooke Blair had 20 points as the ISU women won at Hawaii last night, 64-62, in overtime. The road swing continues next Saturday in Orem, when the Bengals play at UVU.

The men try to extend their two game win streak tonight against Northwest Nazarene. Hope to see you all at Holt Arena at 7.

Another win over a program from a bigger conference with generally bigger athletes with a much bigger athletic budget.

Seriously...should we really be surprised anymore when the Bengals do this?

Some numbers:

Since the start of the 2009-2010 season ISU is now 24-15 in games decided by three points or less. (One possession games). That's a .615 win percentage.

In that same time frame ISU is now 10-7 in OT games. That's a .588 win percentage.

When the game is tight at the end, Seton's teams usually close it out with a win.

Nice win. Hawaii has a much larger budget than the rest of the Big West due to FBS football, but the Big West often is ranked lower than the Big Sky in women's basketball when it comes to conference RPI. Many budgets of schools there are on par or even lower than the top half of Big Sky budgets.

NAU had a nice win a couple nights ago against Arizona. Yes mvem, the Wildcats are down this year, but a win by the Big Sky against a P5 & PAC 12 school is always a good thing.

I was checking out NNU's roster/coaches. Former ISU assistant Rodrick Rhodes (Kentucky/USC) is now with the Crusaders, Nighthawks, or whatever they are... ;)

It's a good win for a rebuilding NAU (especially the margin), but Arizona is bad this year. They lost to 3-5 Northridge and lost to 2-7 Long Beach at home. ISU's win over Hawai'i and Montana's win over SFA were both better wins.

In other words, NAU's win was much more impressive from a casual fan/reputation perspective than it was from an actual basketball-ability perspective. RPI isn't all that that useful this early in the season, but Arizona presently ranks lower than every Big Sky team except SUU.

Let's hope they stay "down." Since ISU is going to their place next year.

Arizona hasn't had a winning record since 2010-11, so the odds are good. :thumb:

I watched the ISU-Hawaii game online. The Bengals defense in the second quarter was something to see. With 1:32 left in the quarter, Hawaii had scored one basket for two points the entire quarter. Hawaii ended up with 7 in the quarter. Tapasa's footwork in the post was impressive as were her ability to get offensive rebounds.

Cannot wait for the Big Sky opener versus Weber State in Reed.
