based on the list below one can only assume we must have some shot to get a bigger school at weber.

games this season:

pac 10

ucla at pepperdine
oregon state at montana
washington state at santa clara

florida state at loyola marymount
colorado at san francisco

but knowing the following are all the bigger schools that have come to the dee since 1993 excluding instate schools there is no reason to assume anything amazing will happen next season.

purdue, 1993-94 (big ten)
boise state on dec 3, 2005 (wac)
nevada, nov 30, 2002 (wac)
Boise State in 2000-01 (wac)
Wyoming, 1995-96 (wac)

i didnt include the few games we had against nev/boise when they were in the big west.

I'll believe it when I see it, Weber is a program that should attract bigger names. Im tired of the biggest teams on our schedule being instate rivals. If UNLV will play at SUU, why wont they play here?

I'll tell you why, what is the one thing Weber has that alot of the teams listed above dont????

AN INCREDIBLY TOUGH HOME COURT ADVANTAGE.

Big Teams wont come to the Dee, because they know that they have a GREAT chance to lose, thats why Utah wont play us anymore in the Dee, they dont want to go to the Pac 10 and lose in Ogden. Teams need to grow some, Being affraid to lose is a pitiful excuse to not play someone.

The reality for teams that are in conferences that usually get several spots in the NCAA's is 20+ wins. If their conferences are tough, then they have to get 8-10 of those wins in the preseason. Those type of teams are not going to come to Ogden, they have to schedule wins in the preseason. I believe the current administration is working to get past this difficulty, but honestly I don't know what you do. The suggestion about the BSC and Big West tournament is a good idea. Once the conference gets settled in with the new members, that might be something that works. We should be able to match up with another tournament-winner only conference to do something interesting.

Since our reality is so much different -- no matter what we do during the season the BSC entry comes down to a single game -- we get to watch a team grow and get better by scheduling difficult preseason games on the road. And I have been a college basketball fan long enough that I really enjoy watching a team develop by conquering challenges. Honestly, with the internet providing access to almost every game played, I really enjoy watching Rahe build his teams. It is part of what I really like about being a Weber fan...and he is building a really good one right now.

Finally, I would encourage posters to offer suggestions on this forum. We know that the administration is reading our comments so who knows what suggestion might gain some traction.

Next season there will be a number of good home games, well, from I can deduce there will be.

NEXT SEASONS OOC:

BRACKET BUSTER OPPONENT 2010-2011
BRACKET BUSTER
UTAH
UTAH STATE
SOUTHERN UTAH (they wont join till 2012 they were suppose to play in Ogden next year in football too)
Utah Valley (home and home)

I originally thought that Tulsa was a guaranteed game, but they might come to Ogden next year.
Add on a couple of other games and thats a pretty good home schedule.
I'd like UC DAVIS, PORTLAND, DENVER, IDAHO, or SAN JOSE to come calling next year.

The inability to schedule D1 schools at home is a conference wide problem, not just a Weber problem. I've heard the conference commissioner say this. Here is a list of Sky schools with their D1 nonconference home games (not including Bracket Buster games), and the number of home games vs. lower division schools.

EWU - 3 D1 (San Jose St, Idaho, Seattle), 2 lower div
ISU - 1 D1 (UMKC), 2 lower div
UM - 4 D1 (Idaho, Fullerton, Portland, Oregon St), 1 lower div
MSU - 2 D1 (Cal Poly, San Fran), 2 lower div
NAU - 2 D1 (Texas-Pan Am, Air Force), 2 lower div
UNC - 2 D1 (Wyoming, N Dakota), 2 lower div
PSU - 4 D1 (Pepperdine, Fullerton, Portland, UVU), 1 lower div
SSU - 3 D1 (Bakersfield, UC Davis, Cal Poly), 2 lower div
WSU - 2 D1 (Seattle, BYU), 2 lower div

As much as I dislike Weber's schedule, it could be worse. Look at ISU's. And Weber has the best nonconference home game in the conference in BYU. And I would sure like to know how UM got a PAC10 team to come to their gym.

If recent Weber schedules are anything to go by, those games will be our only home games. the rest whoever they are (we know we will play at BYU) will be on the road.

Are we playing in a bracket buster next year to?

We may have Tulsa coming in and it is a posibility to get a home bracket buster.

Since we are playing an away block buster game this year, the rule is next year the other team has to come to WSU to play.

I'm sure, since Fullerton is pushing the bracket buster games for the entire conference, that Weber will have a home bracketbuster game next year, as well as having, the team they play this season, at the Dee next season. It is an NCAA rule. I've heard some good things about Tulsa coming to Ogden next season. I really thought it was a money game for the Cats.
