This win was the biggest margin of victory in PSU history against another D1 opponent, the game story from goviks.com is pasted below:
Missoula, MT - Confirming their supremacy in the Big Sky Conference this season, the Portland State Vikings routed the Montana Grizzlies on their own floor, 108-56, to improve to 13-2 in league play with one game remaining before the Big Sky Conference tournament. The 52-point win was the largest over a Division I opponent in Portland State history.
The win raised PSU’s overall record to 20-9 on the season and set a new school record for wins at the Division I level. Portland State has won 19 in a season two other times at the Division I level, and also won 21 in a season twice and 20 once while competing at the small college level during the 1950s.
As they have many times this season in conference games, the Vikings blew it open early, jumping to leads of 6-0, 21-7, 33-14 and 57-25 by halftime. Amazingly, the Vikings never trailed in two games this week against Montana or Montana State, whom they defeated 96-68 on Thursday. In fact, the 28-point win over the Bobcats was the previous largest margin of victory by PSU in a Big Sky game in its 12 seasons as a member. The Vikings blew that two-day-old mark out of the water on Saturday night.
PSU shot 58% in the first half compared to just 33% by the Grizzlies in building a big lead. The Vikings had a 25-9 advantage on the backboards.
When Andre Murray made a layup at the 11:26 mark of the second half, the Vikings led by 45 at 83-38. PSU’s largest lead was 53 following a layin by J.R. Moore with 41 seconds left, making it 108-55.
Jeremiah Dominguez finished with a game-high 24 points on 9-12 field goals and 6-8 three-pointers. Scott Morrison scored 17 points, hitting 7-9 field goals and 3-3 free throws. All 12 Vikings who played scored at least three points.
The Vikings finished at 40-64 from the field (.625). Portland State made a season-high 14 three-point field goals in 25 attempts (.560). PSU had a 45-23 rebounding advantage.
Montana dropped to 14-15 on the season, 8-8 in Big Sky Conference play. Andrew Strait had a team-high 10 points and four rebounds. The Grizzlies finished at just .327 from the field.
