Friday night game:
Montana State at Weber State - Guess we'll find out if Kats are for real. Think they are. Why does Eastern have the toughest conference schedule.. Sheesh

Saturday, October 16

Idaho at Eastern Washington - See prediction thread.
Sacramento State at Montana - Montana rights the ship against BigSky foe but it could be nip and tuck. Wonder if the Griz fans appreciate their hurt QB more now?
Southern Utah at Northern Arizona - Coin flip in my head but this is likely an NAU victory. SUU needs a win. Nothing would surprise me here
Idaho State at Portland State - Who cares? Going to lean bungles..
Northern Colorado at UC Davis - I'd rather watch a Lifetime channel movie...

Hope everyone is doing well. You don't have a thing without your health. Am staying active on the tennis courts. Lost a nearly 4 hour match Monday 6-7 7-5 5-7 and won a 3 hour match today 6-4 2-6 6-4. Won't be making the playoffs this season. Do what makes you happy.

Deer season soon right? It's later in GA. Miss my Dad and Elk hunting in Umatilla on the Washington side back in the day.. Some huge snows and a couple of good memories. Good luck to all you hunters!

Not cooking anything special this week. My boys just made Chili. Tasty. Probably pork chops this weekend.

Think our schedule is bad now? Wait until next year. We drew by far the toughest conference slate in 2021, but that's still peanuts compared to road games at Florida and Oregon next season.

I struggle to see many road wins in conference play this week, but I expect MSU to beat Weber. Idaho State / Portland State ought to be pretty even. Sac State is still a complete mystery to me... I think they're probably about even with Idaho, but probably not good enough to test Montana in Missoula.

We are in the midst of our best year for having one of the best teams for some time. This league is loaded. Our future schedules gonna be tough especially breaking in a new QB and replacing other top tier talent. If we are gonna do it, it's this year. Every game feels like playoff caliber importance and every game is big because we need a high seed...no slip ups allowed.

MSU is good I think they beat Weber. Then after we beat Idaho, Weber playoff situation becomes huge when we play them(huge game huge).
Montana wins, NAU wins at home and PSU chop blocks its way to a fluky win at home. UC Davis wins in a surprisingly closer game than it should be.

Y'all ain't wrong. Next year could be brutal. In the meantime, like the 1-0 philosophy/focus this season. It's a key mantra to help stay on track. Every play matters, every game matters, every teammate matters etc.. It's a winning formula.

Well for tonight"s game Montana State opened at 1.5pt favorites but now Weber is 1.5pt favorite...looking forward to game at 7pm ESPNU

Massey agrees with you...Definitely a coin flip. Will try to watch some of this game for sure.

Montana St - Weber St

Most Likely 26 -- 24
Win Probability 53% 47%

I think the Kats are better overall but being on the road on a short week after Weber had a bye is an equalizer. I think MSU can stop Weber's offense, not sure about the other way round although the Kats schedule has been pretty easy so far. Enough talk. Time to play ball. Two teams enter, one team wins!

I didn't see any of this game as 10 pm start time was too much to overcome for my exhausted mind, body and spirit.... MSU 13 - Weber 7

Montana State edges Weber State 13-7 in defensive battle

OGDEN, Utah (AP) Freshman kicker Blake Glessner's two field goals in the third quarter made the difference in a defense-heavy contest as Montana State edged Weber State 13-7 Friday night.

Montana State (6-1, 4-0 Big Sky Conference) played catchup after Weber State (2-4, 1-2) jumped ahead on the game-opening drive. The Bobcats, ranked No. 9 in the FCS coaches poll, knotted the score at 7-7 just before halftime when Matthew McKay scored on a 1-yard keeper to tie the game. Glessner added third-quarter field goals of 46 and 32 yards in the third quarter.

After Glessner's second field goal, the Bobcats and Wildcats ground against each other, trading eight punts and three turnovers on downs on the next 11 possessions until Montana State got the ball one last time with less than 90 seconds left.

McKay scrambled to his right for a critical first down with 1:15 to go, allowing the Bobcats to run out the clock.

Montana State defensive end Daniel Hardy had two solo sacks and two assists, including a crucial drop of Weber State quarterback Bronson Barron on third-and-long with less than two minutes left in the game.

The 18th-ranked Wildcats drove 97 yards to score on the game-opening drive, taking a 7-0 lead when Josh Davis ran in from the 9. Davis gained 53 yards in the game, Barron competed 16 of 29 passes for 215 yards but was sacked four times.

McKay went 12-of-19 passing for 76 yards and was sacked twice. Isaiah Ifanse carried 25 times for 83 yards.

Montana State sits atop the Big Sky standings along with second-ranked Eastern Washington (6-0, 3-0). The teams meet Nov. 6 at EWU.

Nothing real impressive on offense here but both defenses are above average. Troy Anderson MSU can impact a game.
Weber receivers dropped balls in their last two drives that would have been 1st downs and who knows the game impact.
Weber only committed 1 penalty for 5 yards.
