Couple of key games for potential seeding or just to make the playoff's. I'm not talking about the Eagle's, going with consensus that the ship has sailed for our Eags this season.

Biggest game
Weber @ Montana

Montana St @ UC Davis

N. Co @ UND
Sac St @ Idaho
ISU @ BYU
NAU @ SUU
EWU @ Cal Poly

Happy Veteran's Day for all Eag faithful who have served or had family or loved ones that served

Biggest game
Weber @ Montana -- Tough call. I haven't watched Weber this season very much and regardless who QB's for Montana they are tough at home. I prefer Jay Hill over Bobby Hauck. Going to go with Weber in this one as they have more recent experience in big games. Massey favors Griz.

Montana St @ UC Davis -- Difficult road contest for Cats. Likely Davis. Massey favors Davis by 3.

N. Co @ UND -- UND
Sac St @ Idaho -- Sac St should win this
ISU @ BYU -- BYU
NAU @ SUU -- NAU

I'm not sold on either Montana State or UC Davis. I don't think either one of them is better than Eastern, although they have played better at times. I'll take MSU. UC Davis is playing spoiler now, and Montana State still has playoff aspirations.

UC Davis did a good job of scheduling to get a mediocre team into the playoffs. They had two non-con games against Lehigh and San Diego, but they've already piled up 5 losses. However, had Eastern played those two games instead of what we did, we'd likely be 6-4 right now and still with a good shot at the playoffs.

Also, not to revisit the whole scheduling thing, but it's sort of weird MSU can get Norfolk State and UC Davis can get Lehigh on their schedule. These are the perfect non-con games because you'll beat those teams 95% of the time, but it still reflects better than a pretty good D2 like Lindenwood. Eastern was left playing Fordham in New York in a one-off... I still feel like we can go to some of these teams taking West Coast one-offs and offer home/home arrangements and get them on the schedule.

One wonders. Lindenwood is ranked 9th per their website and 6-0 in conference. Good for them.

Shouldn't the Eag's mop the floor with Cal Poly? Hope the road monkey is off Eastern's back permanently and it's time to play ball the next two games.

If NOT then WHY?

I haven't watched Cal Poly at all this season, but based on their historical tendencies, I think Eastern matches up well. Our D has been hit-and-miss all year, but a one-dimensional rushing team probably suits our strengths on D better than a team that wants to air it out. If Eastern shows up with their heads screwed on straight, I'd expect a comfortable win. I think Cal Poly will put up more fight than Idaho State, though, as it felt like the Bengals had completely checked out and offered nothing in the way of resistance.

Interesting factoid on Lindenwood.... they have been dynamite in close games. All of their wins have been by 12 points or less. And they started 1-3 and have won five straight now.

I think a lot of our scheduling was from Chaves. He seemed to jump on any game offered. Hence the weird one-off roadies at South Dakota and Fordham. You look at the FCS home/homes we've scheduled over the last few years, and it's almost absurd how the teams we scheduled are routinely the best ones in their conference. UNI and NDSU from the MVC, Sam Houston State from the Southland, and Jax State from the OVC. There are some teams in each of those conferences that are regularly garbage; it might make more sense to schedule those easier wins... especially early in the year.

Hickey was handed a bowl of puke from Chaves. We had a 10 game schedule last year--- with the opener, of all games, missing--- and Hickey had to rush to fill a game in the late Spring. We had two openings this year and had to rush to fill those as well. Most teams have their schedule locked with a couple of years to spare, although there's always a chance of something falling apart late. Prior to Hickey, we were always struggling to get a locked-down schedule until the 11th hour. I hope that changes, and I hope we look further East at some of those really bad FCS teams over there for games over the next decade. Getting an easy win, especially an easy D1 win, is beautiful.

Nice thoughtful post on the schedule Dopa.

The big game for the BigSky is Weber @ Montana.. The media has Montana winning at home. Not surprising that they fall back into old patterns.

The weather should be good for this game low 40's no precipitation and little wind. Guess Weber isn't sure if their best RB is available or not. If he can go, Weber controls the clock and both offense and defensive line play for the win. Guess it's on Root, so I won't be watching but should be a good one.

Weber looks horrible today. They look like the EAGS when they have melted down this season.

Taylor Barton of ROOT sports loves UM.

Weber getting schooled!
