Billy green quit the football team this week.
Very disappointing, Billy had a very good spring camp and was challenging for the top spot.
Wish you well Mr Green. If Clark goes down there is now nothing ready to go in behind him.
Wildcat nation

Unfortunate. Jadrian for whatever reason has been given a much longer leash to be a bad QB than any of his peers. I liked what I saw from Billy Green for the most part. I didn't see him as being the long term solution at this point mostly due to him not getting significant opportunities to play over the last year or so. Obviously he felt the same.

Do you think it is possible that Green was demoted to third string or worse after spring football and got ticked off about it and left?

Playing any sport at the DI level is a huge commitment. He has probably graduated or is very close. He probably just wants to get on with his life. Pro football is not calling him anytime soon and at some point a player needs to transition into life outside of sports.

Good luck Mr. Green. I'm sure you have a bright future ahead of you. Thanks for your contributions. :thumb: :thumb:

That is too bad. Billy lost his confidence and hasn't been able to get it back. I agree with other posters that Green wasn't given much of a leash. Whereas, Jadrian constantly screws up and is back in the pocket for the Cats. I felt that Green had a very efficient spring and frankly out-played Jadrian, heck three of our QBs did. Oh well, we are stuck and that is where we are.

Just when I thought our QB situation couldn't get any worse...it does.

If Clark is pulled or has a injury we are really screwed.

If he quit the team, why would Coach still bring him up as an option? I don't get it. Wouldn't Jay be the first person to know that Billy had elected to leave the team?

Personally, I feel it is a loss for the program. Jadrian is not a good QB. He shouldn't be the starter.

Is there a direct quote of Hill mentioning Green or does Garside imply that Green is still on the roster?

I thought it was crazy that Billy didn't play last year. It looks like Hill pinned all the blame on Green for the previous year.Hard to blame the kid when the line went down early and the running game was up and down at best. I keep seeing all this Green lost his confidence crap, but I sure didn't see that at the two practices this spring. Hill doesn't seem to bright when it comes to QB's! Steve Clark got out of there fast too! Hill should stick to defense... I really liked Green and hoped for a come back this year. Dumb move!

“I expect him to play at a high level,” Hill said. “We need him to be consistent this year. He knows that. He’s a guy that I know can play at a high level. I don’t want to discount the other quarterbacks in the program, too, because we’ve got guys that can play. We’ve got guys in the program who can push Jadrian, and I think Jadrian has all of the ability in the world to be a great quarterback in this league.”

Garside, then goes on to state that Hill mentions Shaw and Cantwell directly as two players who can push Clark. Coach never mentions Green (Garside even says that Green will be a Senior, he's a JR Brandon), Garside does. I don't think that paints a pretty picture.

Loganaggie1, I think you are right. I think Coach Hill has a really hard time evaluating QB talent. He is a good coach and knows his stuff, but with regard to QBs, he seems lost. Yes, Billy never won a game, but he sure as hell kept the Cats in games that they had no right being competitive in.

John Leilua took the Karsen Liljenquist route and went to Snow College. I think he really wants to go to Boise State.

Isn't that the guy who supposedly chose Weber over BYU and Utah State?

Yep. He played in a handful of games last year. Was decent but nothing to write home about. I wish him the best but like liljenquist I think it is a bad move. He might have gotten mad during spring ball when he didn't end up being the starter.

I am worried about depth at DE. The team lost two from graduation, moved one to OL where he is slated to start at Tackle, and two left (Leluia and Aaron Blackwell). Right now there are only two listed as DE. I'm sure Hill has a plan. On defense it is our biggest area of concern.

Billy redshirted last year...
