Bobs Take 2

Well...the four game road trip is coming to an end. THANKFULLY too!! Ugh... It ends tomorrow with a game against a seemingly rejuvenated MSU team. Huse has a veteran team playing for their lives on their home floor. The bobs aren't necessarily good, but they aren't bad. They don't do anything spectacular (they limited Chris "jelly donut" Hansen to 7 last night. Something the Cats haven't been able to do in two outings with the Bungles) but play hard. It will be a different matchup than the one in Ogden. However, I really don't feel that the Bobs match up with the Cats. We are too big and long for the Bobs, and Weber is just as fast, which causes huge issues for the Bobs. They use speed to beat opponents. Last night is a good example of that. Also, and most importantly, the Bobs don't play a very good zone. If they try man, Weber can beat them up, since the Cats are bigger and quicker. Being tired from the road trip could be the biggest issue for the Cats. It could be a factor that could keep tomorrow nights game close.

After watching last nights game, I felt like I had just had a bunch of teeth pulled. Tinkle Bell out coached Rahe again in Missoula; not really hard to do. Just play zone against Weber. Granted, UM had some serious pressure on them to win last night after losing both games on the road last week. Yet, they came out with a desire to win, energy, and really got after it. They played like they wanted to win the conference. Weber looked flat and didn't have much energy. Yes, the loss to ISU was crushing and zapped our energy, just like the loss in Sac, but you can't let one game define your season. You've still gotta show up the next time you take the court. Weber definitely didn't do that. Champions play like Champs every game.

7 assists...that says it all. Terrible ball movement and even worse floor spacing. Nobody was moving on offense, and our defense has been really bad the last two games. Teams are recognizing our defensive weaknesses. You can run a high screen and kill us on the pick and roll. Montana's weapon was to drive and dish and also to drop a bunch of back door screens overloading one side of the court exposing the back side of the court for easy layups. Weber isn't communicating and their double teams show up late if they do. We don't react quickly and leave open too many guys under the hope. Weber did play zone, but gave up after giving up two buckets. One impressive, the other a crap 3 by Jamaar that normally he misses. He shot it from around 30' with 6 seconds left on the shot clock.

I think Rahe needs to play a guy who can pass and drive from the high post (FULLER) and is quick enough to guard undersized bigs, that we see a lot in the Sky. I love Kyndahl but he doesn't have good court vision and at times is somewhat soft. Might as well give Fuller a chance in certain circumstances. Just sayin...

So you are saying that Fuller needs mins over who? Who loses the mins for Fuller to play? Are you suggesting that Hill or Bolomboy should sit so that Fuller can play?

The Bobcats do not match up well with the Wildcats. Weber should win, but you are right, it is the last game of a long road trip and could end up being a trap game.

So we have a thread with one poster talking with himself, & the other poster asking a question he already knows the answer. Weird sh!t ... Washington & Lady Liberty :geek:

Mont St is not a trap game. A trap game is against a team you are likely looking past. Having lost two straight, there is no way Weber is looking past Mont St. I expect Weber to come out with some serious defensive intensity having allowed 50% shooting in the last two games.
That's why Weber lost. Weber has been the best defensive team in the league, holding teams to close to 40%. I'm guessing Rahe will make sure they turn up the defensive intensity tomorrow night.

I just turned on the Sac vs UNC game. The refs are sucking just as bad. The announcer is really holding himself back. It's hilarious.

Back to a two game cushion, with four games remaining. These two home games are huge. We need them both, but the most important is the first one. We have 2 at home and 2 on the road. UNC has the same. They have at least one more loss in them and we probably do as well. I think that we are totally in the drivers seat now. :thumb: :thumb:

Eastern will be our toughest test remaining. The conference title will likely be decided by then, so it will be interesting to see if we come out with much fire. They will likely be playing for a 4 or even a 3 seed in the tourney so they will be motivated. I hope our guys are fired up after the OT loss at Sac and beat them to death from the get go on Thursday. i think we match up well with NAU and Jacobsen hasn't been playing as much the last few games.
