Boise State Transfer

Michael Katz of the Idaho Statesman is reporting tonight that Jace Richter (Mountain View HS, Boise State walk-on) will transfer to play at ISU. He was in the news this past fall...

Former Boise State and Mountain View football player Jace Richter plans to enroll and play football at Idaho State, he announced Wednesday evening on Twitter.

In the tweet, Richter said he will enroll at Idaho State for the spring semester.

Richter, a freshman, was dismissed from the Boise State football team in October after being accused of assault. He was named in a civil suit by fellow student Ben Taylor, who alleged Richter attacked and injured him in a dormitory in the early hours of Oct. 8.

The incident occurred in a freshman dorm and became public on Oct. 13, when the attorney for student Taylor, 18, filed a lawsuit, alerted local media and circulated a photo of Taylor’s puffy, bruised face taken while Taylor was in a hospital bed.

Since then, Boise police have investigated the incident and prosecutors reviewed the case. Prosecutors said they are not pursuing criminal charges against Richter.

Richter has since filed a countersuit, alleging that he is the victim of the assault and battery. The suit alleges that Taylor fabricated a story about the incident and then spread it via family, friends and media.

Richter, a three-year starter and a repeat All-Idaho selection at Mountain View High in Meridian, was a walk-on freshman safety for the Broncos.

This sounds like the perfect fit for ISU. :? Maybe he could liven up the Rendezvous.
Pocatello could use a little more excitement and drama.

Sounds like a case of he said she said. As long as he contributes to the team and is a team player, let's give the kid a chance. Let's not be quick to pass judgment and ISU doesn't have a long standing issue of thuggery. Sure, we've have a few incidents here and there as ALL football teams do (we're dealing with 17-23 year olds with testosterone through the roof), but pales in comparison to say....da Grizz.

In any case, welcome to the team young man. Make the most of it!

If you did your homework, notabengalalum, you'd find lots of stories on the subject with witness accounts. Most, if not all, of the witnesses said the other guy was the aggressor. Some said it looked like he had just come from a fight, and then went into a room with a female student. Witnesses heard some loud noises (like things crashing around), and Richter and a couple others went and knocked on the door to make sure the female was alright. When the victim opened the door, witnesses said he went right after Richter. Sounds like a case of somebody getting the worst of it.

He's young, was a bright HS student, and hopefully good things are ahead of him. Welcome and good luck!

Relax Otis. Read a book or something.
